This was the first time I ever really watched MLB, I watched the playoffs from start to finish and then the World Series itself was absolutely nuts. As a neutral observer, I felt the sports anxiety for both teams. I haven't felt that kind of anxiety since the glory Patriots days in football..... new MLB fan here. Great world series.

Pretty interesting that they finalized the 15 card checklist before tonight. Baseball is funny because we've already forgotten about Will Klein (who is included and has autos in the set) and get nothing from Rojas who saved the Dodgers in the 9th inning of game 7.

Topps will make it right.
They will insert Rojas in that set.

Has to be the most heartbreaking loss in baseball history. Maybe sports history. I was at Game 7 in 2016 10 rows off the field behind home plate. If the Indians took the place of the Jays tonight and I was there I think I would have had a heartache and died in the stadium. A loss like that is the one good thing about no longer having any players or teams to be a die hard fan of.

The Dodgers just refused to lose...
and it seems that the baseball gods gave them some breaks -

G6 trapped ball in the wall + game-ending double play
G7 Pages catch

It's not just that unbelievable catch. It was literally a million things as Im sure many have mentioned.

Toronto had so many chances to extent the lead and didn't. Toronto manager made the same dumb moves he made with taking guys out in Game 3 that cost them Game 3. 1 of the guys he put in can't take a proper lead from 3rd and is thrown out by inches at the plate from a guy almost falling down. The play so close if they would have ruled him safe not sure it's overturned. You really couldn't tell for sure. Had he not taken Bichette out he would have had a chance to hit in the last inning.

9th inning give up a homer to a guy with 1 hit in a month and 1 homer since the All Star break.

Can't get a sac fly to tie it in the 9th or 11th. Double play to end it.

Just absolutely brutal. I feel so terrible for anyone that is a Blue Jays fan to have to watch that. I really don't think this core group will ever be back let alone win it. I didn't feel quite as bad for Saints fans when they got screwed against the Rams but that was similar. Thought that core group for the Saints would never make it to the Super Bowl again. They never came close.

Jays all year long had the dreaded LOB haunt them ... it came back to bite them again ... Hoffman also has a history of coughing up late game homers ... came back to bite him in this game ... I was very disappointed in Varsho he had so many chances to be the hero ... obviously you can't keep letting a team like the Dodgers opportunities to come back ... my friend and I both had two specific players we feared, his was Will Smith mine was Max Muncy say no more look who did the damage ...

This was an incredible series and an incredible Game 7 finale. As a baseball fan, you couldn't ask for much more. The "Game of Inches" stayed true to its name during this one. The Blue Jays were so close. There will be a couple Blue Jays players who are haunted for the rest of their lives over things they could have done differently. And there are also a couple of Dodgers players who cemented their legacies into Dodgers history. I find it a bit ironic that all the talk is about the Dodgers and the players they bought to build this team, but it was the old, cheap, subpar hitter in Miguel Rojas who kept them from going under. How can you not love this game? Bring on Spring Training!

But it was the Dodgers' pitchers who kept the game close after Ohtani gave up the 3-run homer to Bichette in the third inning -- only 1 run allowed in 8.2 innings pitched.

It was the elite and expensive starters that carried the day -- Glasnow, Snell and Yamamoto. Somehow Yamamoto got out of two jams with the winning runner on 3B and less than two outs -- he's a magician.

Highest WPAs for Dodger players in game 7:

1. Yoshinobu Yamamoto -- 0.554
2. Will Smith -- 0.301
3. Max Muncy -- 0.285
4. Miguel Rojas -- 0.234

Rojas' homer in the 9th only increased the Dodgers' win probility 35% because it was still a tie game and they were on the road. The Blue Jays should have won it in the bottom of the 9th, but they choked.

The Dodgers batted .203 in the World Series, got outscored 34-26,

This is a wild stat.

Better to be lucky than good in a short series. The timing of runs is more important than number of runs in a small sample. The Dodgers squeezed out two extra-inning wins in the series.

When I looked up Hoffman’s numbers for this year and saw he allowed 15 of them I knew he was going to blow it. Guy is going to be treated like Mitch Williams now.

They will finish last in their division next year. No farm system outside of Trey and they are losing Bo and a number of their players had career years.

Yeah, a lot of analysts thought their window of contention was closing after this year.

Definitely a series for the ages. I think a lot of more casual fans followed the World Series this year.
