Doesn't change the fact that some guys don't preform well on short rest. Shohei is a creature of habit. I obviously have full faith but we've seen amazing pitchers, like Kershaw for example, get lit up on short rest in the playoffs.

I have faith in Glasnow. I'd start him. Have Shohei focus on hitting to start. I think the biggest focus to start is getting some runs. If Glasnow can go 6 innings and you find yourself with a few run lead, then I'd go to Shohei. I don't think he blows it and he can hit while he is the active relief pitcher.

They have to go with Ohtani as the starter if he comes in relief and has a quick exit you lose his bat too. He will be fine and if he does get lit up it's short rest nobody will hold it against him. He will for sure have a short leash that's fine you still have his bat the rest of the way.

I guess I look at it as a strong outing from Glasnow and some big hits/getting on base from Shohei will be a recipe for success. Scoring runs has to be a priority.

If Shohei comes out, empties the tank, they get down and the fatigue affects his bat, they're doomed.

What I'm saying is I believe in Glasnow. I think they can hit Scherzer, especially Ohtani. Get the lead. Let Shohei close it out if needed.

Agree with TCG. Short rest is concerning. Start Glasnow on the same short leash and see where the game is at. Never liked O pitching in game 4 to begin with for this very reason. YY and O are your best pitchers and should have pitched 2 games each on full rest. Truly hope I'm wrong and things work out.

History tonight!!!!!! Ohtani is going for his Josh Beckett moment! My guess is they try to get 3-4 solid innings from him and see how it goes. All hands on deck! How great is this!!!!!

Who could have imagined what has happened to Ohtani since he signed with the Dodgers?! This is bananas! 2 historic seasons with it coming down to a game 7 pitching start in the World Series! Playing with house money on this start nobody expects alot but Ohtani let's pitch a gem!

I think this might be the single most anticipated individual game I’ve ever seen.

World Series - Game 7. Winner take all. Ohtani pitching.

Baseball gods wrote us a good script for tonight. I hope it’s a fun one.

Man would I love to see Shohei with another performance for the ages, 6 strong innings and a couple of hits with a few RBI. I won't be mad if the Jays win the series, and it would be really hard to see Vladdy with such an absurd postseason and come up short, but I want there to be no room left for the Ohtani haters to have any sort of leg to stand on when it's all said and done

He has a chance to really etch himself into the history books (even more so) by capping off this playoffs with a stellar performance on the mound and the bat. Talking like MJ 1998 NBA finals final shot type legendary stuff.

Who are these haters? Those who don't bow down and worship at his feet Buddah style? Those who don't call him the GOAT because it's the fashionable thing to do?

Because I can't imagine there is anyone who can deny how great of a player he's been.

Why keep fanning flames in a player thread?

The best thing Ohtani can do for the Dodgers tonight is put up zeros for 6 innings. The Dodgers can't afford to give up multiple runs early with the way the offense has been performing. He can then fully focus on hitting in high-leverage situations late in the game and maybe be the WS hero you all want him to be.

Let’s start with the small army of losers that believe (and perpetuate the idea) that the FBI and IRS conspired to let Ohtani, a Japanese baseball player, walk free from serious federal charges. And that these U.S. government agencies colluded with MLB to pin fraud, money laundering, and illegal betting on his interpreter so that Ohtani could continue being awesome.

Ohtani is starting today.

+20% if he has a good start and the Dodgers win.

-20% if he has a bad start and they lose.

Flat if he has a good start and they lose.

Flat if he has a bad start and they win.

I wouldn't call conspiracy theorists haters. They cast aspersions on Ohtani because they are very cynical people. His interpreter wouldn't have ruined his life, reputation, career and went to prison for Ohtani -- that is a really dumb theory.

The truth is that even if Sho goes 5 scoreless, hits two bombs and scores the winning run, there will still be haters out there. Here are the most common coping patterns:

A) He isn't the best hitter or the best pitcher, how can he be the best player?
B) He just hopped to a super team and is suddenly winning. A real GOAT would have turned around the franchise instead of signing elsewhere.
C) The FBI colluded with MLB to cover for him and he is a dirty gambler!
D) He's not on my team so he can't be the GOAT.

You can't change people. Just let it be and enjoy the Sho.

It’s haters using conspiracy theories as excuses to hate. It’s all over social media, which is the source of reality for far too many. It’s people that hate Ohtani for leaving the Angels, for him not being on their team, because they’re Padres or Yankees fans, or because they love to stir #@#@#@#@ up. Also because they hate the idea of a humble Japanese guy writing his name in the record books above the names of others that they love. They just can’t stand it.

I'd be very surprised if Shohei went more than 3 innings, unless he gets through 3 innings on like 25 pitches.
