Default What's Next for Topps 25/26- What the next releases?

With 25/26 Topps Flagship about to drop, does anyone know what the next few releases are or if there’s an updated release calendar out yet?
Trying to get a sense of what’s coming up next after Flagship — any info or reliable sources would be appreciated!

Why spend a lot on flagship when chrome will be out shortly?

Given how far behind schedule Fanatics is with regard to their baseball releases, you may not see any other Topps NBA products until 2026.....

They’ve already got people sucked in to their baseball offerings. They don’t care to push a tight schedule. They will probably do the same once basketball is established.

This is a very legitimate question. Unlike baseball, flagship basketball hasn't traditionally been popular with collectors. TC, on the other hand, has been.

Since when? Some of Topps most iconic “modern” cards are flagship Shaq, Kobe, LeBron, Durant, Curry etc..

I don't remember Topps paper being sought after back in the day -- I remember Finest, Fleer Ultra, and Topps Chrome. The Topps base rookie cards of all-time greats are much more valued now compared to back in the day.

I remember Shaq's '92 Upper Deck base card being his go-to rookie card. Kobe's '96 Topps flagship was a complete afterthought. Even Curry's 2009 Topps card wasn't particularly popular -- his Upper Deck base card seemed to be the go-to base card.

They weren't sought after back in the day. Everyone I knew just waited for TC lol. I'll be doing the same this go round.

Uhhhhhhh……no.

Nobody I’ve ever known has preferred the paper version over the chrome version, especially since they have the same image……..except for Shaq, who doesn’t have a chrome version. But if he did…..

Another factor facing Topps is that there aren't all that many retired GOAT-level players left to sign.

From the 60's, only Oscar Robertson (and maybe Bob Cousy) are still available, with Bill Russell and Jerry West both have passed away in the past few years.

From the 70's, Dr. J and Kareem are around, but neither sign too frequently anymore.

From the 80's, you've got Bird & Magic, but Jordan, the biggest name of them all, is exclusive to UD (although Fanatics could certainly afford to work out a deal with UD if they chose to).

From the 90's you've got Shaq, but neither David Robinson, Hakeem, Ewing, or Duncan have signed regularly for Panini.

From the 00's, Kobe, or course, is no longer around, and some of the biggest active names (Giannis and Luka) are apparently still exclusive to Panini.

Gonna make it a bit harder to justify high prices....

This is spot on -- not having MJ or Kobe is a huge problem for Topps.

The bigger problem, though, IMO, is Topps having weaker basketball card IP and designs than Upper Deck (Fleer/Skybox) and Panini.

In terms of designs don't forget Panini wasn't really great with those first few low end releases until NT and Immaculate came along in the high end space later on.

A lot of their low end initial products were not overly great looking sets so I think Topps with this first release is well ahead of the first Panini release.

There are also a number of good baseball designs that would translate across to the NBA sets.

I can see Topps NBA Dynasty being a huge product!

Yes and no.

Topps has weaker rights to retired players.

But in terms of design, they're much stronger.....they've got the entire 70-year back catalog of Topps designs to use.

As alluded to above, we may not see anything mainstream until 2026. They are already 4 months behind in baseball.

Which serves fanatics just fine - they can sell flagship topps for months.
