Ok. I don't necessarily disagree with that.

Now is it a good thing or a bad thing? I don't know. Fine art has been controlled by a small segment of the population for as long as I've been around. Same with Gold. I don't know of many people who've ever had large quantities of Gold in their possession.

Again, I'm keeping my part in this discussion focused on the sports card and collectable hobby. Ebbs of flows of the card market have been around since I can remember. Each time bigger than the last.

For there to be singles for you to buy boxes need to be opened. Those prices are rising to levels of unsustainability.

and that doesn't even speak to the fact that this market has never been financialized like it is now.
What's interesting is that I think this is something Topps is trying to address/take advantage of.

They are printing so much Topps base that if not now, then very soon we'll be back to the point where 10 year olds can take their chore money and buy a few packs, either at the card shop, target, or online.

Then they'll come out with the higher end stuff that's out of most collector's price ranges and will get gobbled up by breakers. If some people can't play at those table stakes, then ohh well, there's always base Topps.

More socialism. Universal basic income. Higher taxes on the rich.

There are far more of them than there are of you, and they have the power of the vote. And a lot of the younger ones want handouts and debt forgiveness. Politicians will go where the votes are.

The UD president gets it

The only thing he got wrong is, rich people aren't holding the market up

People using card funding services and people buying through LLCs are

Yes, but the rich have the power of the lobby. Which do you think is more powerful?

There are stupid takes, then there’s this. The classic “this time is different” argument. And people wonder why they’re stuck in the mud financially.

However, if that occurs, you'll further calcify our disconnection economically, socially, politically, and culturally as Americans. We have no shared experiences anymore. No one goes to church. Economic collapses can be overcome if everyone is on the same page, feels connected to each other, and has others' best interests at heart. Right now, those aren't the vibes, as the kids say.

But if we have a real war with a real adversary.....

Aren't you in New York? Isn't that ground zero for the socialist revolution?

I haven’t stepped foot in NYC since 2021 and won’t do so until the climate changes.

I live in one of the best cities in the US if your priorities are raising a family and low cost of living so you can truly build wealth.

I think we can finally agree to agree on this one. The amount of untapped human capital and resources on our side of the globe are more than enough to stabilize the entire two continents, if we can all get on the same page. Not to mention that culturally, we are much more similar to each other, which makes for alliances and agreements that are on much stronger ground.

I'm a huge believer in focusing our political and economic energy on the Americas.

Forgot the pics

Sold on eBay

Funded of course....

I mean it only made sense because the Jay Cutler finite 1/1 went for $12k to some moron so then the pumping of finites started

Lots of great areas to do so. These are the biggest priorities where I live as well. Cheaper cost on just about everything. This allows for hobbies and extracurricular activities without the stress of all the additional costs.

Unrelated to most recent topics on the thread, but does anyone have a good theory on why hobby is going up vs retail?

For last year's Prizm, you can buy almost 2 blaster cases for one hobby box. A Mega case costs less than two hobby boxes.

Retail is garbage.

Breakers like hobby for the hit potential.
