I can't speak to the advent calenders of 2024, seeing as I didn't purchase a single, one. I will admit, however; I know there was tremendous..."hype" around these, touting them as being the best format, for your buck. That being said, after watching a 1/2 dozen or so videos of 2025 rips, in addition to already ripping 3 of my 4 loose boxes, today, IMHO; THESE ARE ABSOLUTE, CRAP!

There's literally NOTHING that can be pulled from these, which would even remotely get you to a position of a...."win", financially/ROI-wise, and for $50+, unless you're the die-hardest of die-hard Holiday set builders, there's no question that these will work-out to be the WORST, FORMAT, period!

I absolutely intend on dumping my 2 sealed cases, ASAP.

P.S. The $0.30, 1988 pack which is found in ~90% of advent boxes is such a...."warm, generous, thoughtful" sentiment, from Ruby & Co.

I agree the Advents are horrible. Doubt a small child would even enjoy opening this. My throwback pack was 1998 Topps.

Is anyone going to do the Advent...as an actual Advent?

That was good enough.

I was planning on doing my second box. Or throwing it in the fireplace, which might also be fun.

Yea these are garbage. I’ve never opened one. Last year I remember them being hyped and way over priced and I never saw one in the wild. They seem readily available this year so I bought 2 (one for my son and one for me to quickly tear into to see what it’s about) and yuck. You can easily damage the cards pulling them out of the plastic.

I’ll probably just throw the other on eBay for $90 since these are selling around there for who knows why.

Was it, indeed; a ninety-eight pack, or '88? Genuinely curious.

If Advent calendars are so bad, why were they so popular last year? Different format this year? I legit don’t know.

My kids love Advent calendars, so we are definitely doing this and an NBA one this year. We just got it in the mail the other day and my 4 year old is begging to open it, but his older brothers are explaining that he still has to wait another month. Delayed gratification and cards go hand-in-hand, right???

I ripped an advent and got a '93 Topps pack - at least a shot at a Jeter rookie.

But yeah - easily the worst format last year and this year.

I did one with my 3-year old daughter last year (2-year old at the time).

She loved it (mainly just ripping the pack open, then she'd quickly look through the cards and toss them to the side).

As for the second advent calendar box, we ripped that in a single day haha.

New format last year, no? A lot of people didn't know what the contents would be.

I pre-sold most on eBay.

IMO, they're mainly targeted for kids. Opening the slot to reveal something (a pack, as well as opening the pack itself) is fun to them regardless of the actual contents.

I'd buy them if the cards were made of milk chocolate.

Seems a smarter distribution system than endless packs full of cards nobody actually wants. Candy + occasional random real card “hits,” even better than Lottery tickets.

Mix in Holiday Packs with a single chocolate card inside - milk, dark and white each with varying degree of difficulty

Add in parallels like edible glitter, caramel swirls or nougat ssp

Make it a star studded checklist - Holy ish! I just pulled the Ohtani Dark Chocolate pretzel card!

Anyone else not get their preorder yet? Topps just sent me a shipping notice, but it hasn't left Texas(?) yet.

I got my shipping notice last Wednesday and got the calendar today.

Fancy box, I almost don’t want to open it but I’ll be saving it for December and actually open them 1 day at a time.

I opened 4 megas and got the following:

Chromes:
Zack Wheeler /499
Matt Olson /499
Jazz Chisholm /199
Matt Shaw /99

The short prints yielded the expected number but Jacob Will was the only well regarded rookie.

Green sparkle paper Nolan Arenado /5

Acuna/Luisangel Acuna dual bat relic /99

Of note, the numbered relic and Shaw chrome /99 were in the same mega. The green also came with a standard chrome and to be honest I didn’t know it was numbered until a second look though.

This is one my favorite retail products every year. Have never pulled an auto but I pulled a player worn Freddie Freeman relic /10 last year along with other fun stuff. I spent more per box and pulled zero hits from 4 Topps chrome blasters this year that I think I won’t bother with next year. BUC hits seem to be getting diluted from retail. Bowman blasters still seem fun but I wish they guaranteed a hit.
