Default Topps NBA Living

Now that Topps has the NBA license, has anyone heard if they will do this or who the potential artists are?

My gut says they won't ... or if they did it would be with a modern, edgier art approach like some of the Project stuff vs. photorealistic paintings/pencils.

I’m Sure that’s in the works.

They didn't bring back WWE Living despite pushing Now hard ... and it did OK for the most part before. (It was stronger seller than Now in previous WWE run.)

Really looking forward to the layout they choose.

This is fantastic!

I'm truly excited for Angel, too.

Him resetting his shop this week makes sense now.

If I were a betting man I’d say it would be 1957-58 Topps Basketball design since it was the first. Otherwise I would love to see the 1972-73 design.

Yeah IMHO those are the two possibilities. The only thing I like about th 57-58 design is plenty of art reveal. But those trapezoids and the color scheme are not for me.

I like the 1973-74 design, too. As long as there's room for art reveal, like you said, I'm sure I'll be satisfied. I don't enjoy the trapezoids of the 1957-58 design, but I would understand Topps throwing it back to their first basketball set.

It had seemed like Angel's run on the Baseball Living Set was a little truncated, but now it appears to have been for a great reason. If he's to be the only artist at the start, Topps probably had him get well ahead. I'm most looking forward to the legends cards. There probably should be one of those per week to start.

that would just look weird scaled down to 2.5" x 3.5", very unlikely they go with such a terrible design.

What are the chances Topps just keeps the '53 baseball design for NBA Living?

It would make no sense, but...it's Topps.

What design is being used for UCL Living Set? Also, what designs were used for the Star Wars Living Set and WWE Living Set?

Star Wars Living used 1977 Star Wars Series 1, and WWE Living used 1985 Topps WWF Pro Wrestling Stars, both of which were the first sets for each property.

As for the UCL Living Set, it utilizes the 1977-78 Topps Footballers design from the UK. This design was also used for 1977 Topps Football, and is not the first design for a Topps soccer card. That would be 1975-76, also used for baseball that year.

Based on Topps affinity for choosing a first or second year set design, I imagine they will go with 1957-58, as previously mentioned.

I appreciate it.

It will be nice to track more info from the start. I’ll share the new spreadsheet next week when the first cards are released.

If they'd use 80-81, we'd get 3 players per card, and they could also issue an official Living Set magnifying glass so we could actually see the art.

Angel's the artist who could do it, though.

I'd love to see a card with Wemby fully extended on which he takes up 1/3 of the image area, and then at that same scale, little teeny-tiny paintings of Muggsy and Spud on each side of him.

Default Topps NBA Living

Here’s a short list of players and head coaches I’d like to see in the set:

Patrick Ewing
John Starks
Charles Oakley
Kurt Rambis
George Mikan
Seth Curry (probably a long shot)
Dennis Rodman
Robert Horry
Red Auerbach
Pat Riley
