Further proof that social media is a plague on humanity.

Floyd Mayweather has been known to place large bets. Of course, he's filthy rich so I guess it depends how one defines "gambling problems". Antoine Walker, who made about a hundred mil playing for the Celtics, is flat broke.

I would say the competitive nature of being an athlete at the highest level, for some, lends itself to the competitive nature of gambling. The skills don't overlap but the personality traits do.

Not the first time that the mafia is connected to an NBA player via gambling.

Didn't MJ get his father killed over gambling debt?

Pretty sure Jordan did the killing himself. I think he had something to do with 9/11 and Epstein's "suicide" as well...

The Billups one is far less… people just like the idea of the mafia at this point
Billups, however, might also be tied to sharing insider information with bettors as Blazers coach. Though he was not named in the Rozier indictment, a person referred to as "Co-Conspirator 8" matches Billups' description: "a resident of Oregon" and "an NBA player from approximately 1997 through 2014, and an NBA coach since at least 2021." The indictment alleges that Co-Conspirator 8 supplied information about the Blazers resting key players ahead of a March 24, 2023, contest against the Bulls before it was public. Damian Lillard, Jusuf Nurkic, Jerami Grant and Anfernee Simons all sat out in a game the Blazers lost by 28 points.

People have known for years that the billups game was almost certainly cheating. I know people that played in game and it’s not a big secret, but that’s pretty much case for most of the huge LA games.

Guessing the next big name you hear about will be Paul pierce

I feel like I'm watching Idiocracy when listening to Kash Patel give his briefing.

"it's not tens of dollars. It's not hundreds of dollars. It's not thousands of dollars. it's not tens of thousands of dollars. its not hundreds of thousands of dollars. It's not millions of dollars. We are talking about tens of millions of dollars!"

The Billups stuff keeps getting worse as more information comes out. At first it seemed like he was just participating in some shady poker games with questionable friends.
