Got 1 jumbo and 2 hobby on Topps and won 2 hobby boxes on the fanatics drop. No cases or jumbo on fanatics but I’ll take it.

I had a hobby and jumbo in my cart. When I got through all the security on topps.com, only the hobby was available. It’s nice to see Topps acquire basketball again.

I know 2022 Topps Chrome Baseball wont be out until July..


Currently Wander Franco Rookie cards will be in this product and we could possibly see BOBBY WITT JR / JULIO RODRIGUEZ / RILEY GREENE / ADLEY RUTSCHMAN and a few others if they get called up soon.
at $250 / hobby box doesnt it sound to good to be true?

Francos Base Rookie will probably sell for $50-$75 while Witt-Jrod could be in the $25-50 range.

By this time PSA should have a $35-50 grading level


Any thoughts on the potential of this product as well as the current price?

I think it could be one of the hottest products if not the hottest of these past years.

The demand isn't just due to hype/FOMO/price manipulation (although they're definitely contributing factors). There's a lot of unique variables related to the product too:

- First NBA licensed BKB product by Topps since 09-10
- BKB collectors spend SIGNIFICANTLY more on wax than BB collectors
- First NBA licensed LeBron Lakers autograph (potentially on-card)
- First NBA licensed Topps Stephen Curry autograph (potentially on-card)
- Flagg potential

In addition to breakers, there's a lot of individual people who are excited to rip it for themselves (or with family members). That's why you're seeing prices hold firm and/or increase despite a lot of it being produced.

It's a unique situation.

This biggest difference is that Topps/Fanatics are keeping a majority of revenue in house. Direct sales. Holding back product from shops unless they commit to breaking on fanatics live and many other market controls. Fanatics is going to create more revenue for themselves, eliminate LCS’ that they don’t like or won’t play their game and just keep grabbing more and more market share and competition control. Just another step towards full monopolization. There will be some good stuff, but imo, over time they will squeeze tighter and it will hurt the hobby.

It's funny because I didn't remember when the drop was actually gonna happen but I got an order email at 9:39 am. I didn't win hobby though

Watch topps website direct box sales increase in price as we go along - they do not want to leave any meat on the bone for box flipper bois either.
