Friends and family who don’t collect tend not to buy cards for hobby diehards.

Target is going to do 1 billion in collectible card revenue. That surprised me. This has to be a great profit center for each store.

There will be tons of Black Friday specials for the TCG card market for Target, Walmart and looks like NBA Topps also will have a special set.

So I can see that kind of special set stuff made for "Gifting". But retail back in the day for me was fun to get as presents from people who knew I collected but had no clue what to get.

Frankly they'd be doing even better if there weren't barren shelves at many physical stores or shelves with only low-end carrying premium SRPs when the inclusions have been lessened compared to a decade ago.

If you buy your cards at Target you’re already a dork

Despite strong growth, analysts caution that trading card sales may not see a major holiday spike since many purchases are for personal enjoyment rather than gifting.
Don't they mean for reselling? Kind of hard to ignore the Pokemon resellers at this point.
