My GameStop didn’t have these. It’s still sitting on the same UD Superman boxes though.

You're not the only one. I've been watching tons of breaks on youtube and a lot of other people who ordered the max 20 ended up with nothing other than some numbered cards. I haven't seen one video of someone opening 20, where what they received was better than someone else just opening 3-5ish boxes. Very rarely have there been instances of a 20-box rip where someone got a sketch, or more than 1 base auto, or a superfractor. It seems like the quality control on these is all over the place. Some people buy 3 boxes and end up with a sketch, auto and sometimes even a superfractor. While others who buy 20 box end up with no real hits other than some (sometimes very high) numbered cards.

Very strange decision by Topps to cap the value boxes at 20 per person when a case is 40 boxes. Each value case is supposed to contain at least 2 autographs, so if you bought a solid 40 boxes assuming you received an entire case instead of 40 loose boxes, you would be guaranteed those 2 autographs at least. Since you can't buy an entire case, it looks like those 20 boxes are being pulled from any cases (not all specifically coming from the same case) that leaves you with no guarantees of anything.. which is really sad.

Also, on the topic of quality control... I've seen breaks where people have pulled multiple autos or sketches in the same box, and two instances where it was even in the same exact pack! I've also seen value packs containing anything from 3-5 cards (it should be exactly 4) and hobby packs including anything from 4-7 cards (it should be exactly 5). As well as some cards that look really poorly cut where the image doesn't look centered, or issued with the refractor features on the card. Also TONS of cards (including lots of autos) are being pulled from packs damaged, or with weird marks, or printing errors. Basically, after watching so many breaks and pulls, I've learned that they really screwed up on a lot of different aspects with this release.

...and with all that said I'm still praying that I can find some value boxes to buy because I keep getting shut out.

Yeah with the 10 hobby boxes I opened, of all my rare cards: autos, parallels, superfractor, case hit,etc ~ I did my best to take the cards out of the pack as carefully as possible... but I really haven't seen any cards in my collection as a possible psa mint 10. Maybe just 1 of card i see as possibly eligable .. but even my superfractor has a non sharp corner that will probably cap it at a 9.

I know this is always the case, but I feel like there is a huge disparity between box prices and singles prices, and it's pretty staggering to me.

An orange Squidward auto /25 sold for $348.... that's less than the price of a hobby box, and probably a better hit than what's in 99% of boxes.

It seems like its Spongebob auto, Sketch Card or bust if you're looking at this from a financial perspective.

But also if you're ripping Spongebob, "financial perspective" is an oxymoron.

I'd love to rip a box for the fun and nostalgia, but will probably instead just focus on buying low numbered singles from episodes I like and the autos I want.

It's not normal it just means the breakers have found a great format for this product.

Here's a link, how many pages are in that link? I'll wait. I couldn't find the end.

Unfortunately I’ve justified my card purchases recently based on box/case price. I told myself that the price of the Tibbitt sketch card I bought was reasonable as it would be impossible to pull out of 3 or less hobby boxes. I do miss ripping cases like I used to but it’s simply too costly to open product these days. The RUSH of hitting big through a pack will surely be missed.

This is the way. Watch some box/case breaks and you'll realize how expensive it would be to pull the card you want.

Singles are the way.

That's what I did. Watched someone open 5 blasters and got an auto and some nice color and was sad I missed out on getting some boxes, and then watched tons of breaks and saw just how hit and miss it was.

I ended up negotiating with a guy on IG for a Red Gary /5 auto of Tom Kenney for the price of 2 hobby boxes (which I was initially going to buy for a fun rip).

I think I made the right choice!

As expected, wave of cards hitting eBay from the first initial batch of breaks. Doodle Bob autos started at $350 and are down to $180 in just a weeks time.

On an unrelated note, the QC on these seems weak. I haven’t found a numbered parallel yet that I think could gem.

Correct.

Hobby is like $400 now, yeah? The hobby will always have an itch for markets that are not saturated. Ohtani must have 5000+ unique cards released every year (sells well, but still a lot to choose from). Of course the first SpongeBob set was going to do very well.

That's amazing, I love the Gross Out Inserts! I really want the 1/1 Mr. Krabs Gross Out that's on eBay, but I can think of a lot better ways I'd rather spend $5k lol

Got my 3 blasters from the Topps pre-sale.

Opened one and it had a Patrick Star base card #24 out of /75 and another Triton base #196 out of /175. There were also three of the Kelp Green refractors instead of the promised two. One pack had 5 cards, so I'm guessing the extra Kelp card was in that one. The were also 4 regular refractors and a Broccoli menu card. Seems like I can sell the Patrick and get back close to what I paid for the opened blaster.

The other two boxes I'm just going to leave sealed until they can be sold for enough money that would enable me to live (well) in a pineapple under the sea.

Has anyone heard anything about the individual Doodlebob sketch card print runs? Based on the odds it looks like there’s around 350 total in hobby packs (didn’t calculate blasters). It’s my suspicion that they’re not equal among the 6 artists. It seems like there’s more Director, Bond, Reiss and Schiegiel cards. It could be those with Tibbitt & Greenblatt are just holding them. Just curious if anyone has heard anything.

Just to reiterate to myself how hard it is to hit in wax, I’ve bought the same spot in 12 cases now. Cheap spot ($6 per case) but a card I like. In all of those cases I’ve hit a /175 and that’s it.

Did see a break of this last night with 6 sketches in one case. Sketches are interesting because they seem to drive buyers and are a “chase”, but ultimately they don’t hold value like base parallels do. Most sketches will probably settle in the $150-$350 range in due time.

I feel this is true for the most part. But the Tibbit sketch card will increase in value in my opinion. Only 5 have surfaced on eBay.

12 cases, so thats 1728 packs,

the easiest numbered set to hit is aqua lava, with a odd of 1 in 22 packs, you are only getting 79 aqua lava in 12 cases

Wave and blue refractor have about the same odds in 1 in 25 and 1 in 29 packs respectively, you are getting around the same number of cards, in the 70s,

in a 200 card set, the odds are not in your favour.
