I’ve done 4 orders of 3 boxes/order. Doesn’t seem to be a limit to the number of orders.

They ship late though, not until mid Nov

I know this stuff is printed to the moon, but my LCS said Topps told him there would only be one wave of orders for flagship. Usually there are 2-4 waves, where they jack up the price each time. His rep also advised him to hold a case or two back since they weren't going to allocate anymore to stores after the first wave.

Has anyone else's LCS heard anything similar?

Yes, that’s essentially what they’re saying. On one hand, I’m not disappointed I’ll not have to buy at a higher price, but OTOH stock likely to go quickly.

My guess is that the graphic designers making the cards aren't collectors and the people running the company don't care as long as it doesn't look too much like #@#@#@#@.

they are making a a lot of noise that lids will have nba cards on the 23rd. good chance at getting hobby boxes, maybe jumbo at msrp?

They probably pay $15 an hour and Topps "editors" are paid interns still in college working to get their degree in "photography".

Nailed it right on the head bro. Blows my mind since Topps used to have iconic images on their cards. To me, with continuous improvement even minutely acknowledged, the player images should get better year after year. Sadly it's just not the case.

Another thing that blows my mind is somebody at Panini had the initiative to create Photogenic, which highlights great images of the players. How can they produce that set and then go right after that producing cards with trash images?

That's not how Gettyimages works. There's no universal plan that gets you access to use all photos. Even at the most advanced plan, all you're getting is a percentage discount on bulk orders.

Each photo still costs hundreds if used for commercial purposes. Remember, getty is just a facilitator for photogs to sell their work. The bulk of the purchase proceeds goes directly to the photographer(s) credited.

That's most likely why most large card manufacturers have utilized their own photographers in the past.

I'm shocked Topps have already shipped the preorders- Bought 10 boxes and they have sent via Fedex to Australia. They arrive Thur/Friday. In transit in Singapore today! Totally shocked- wonder if they will keep this up with all releases!
