If you want an auto why would you buy it on release? That's the highest it will ever be most likely. You can wait a few months and get it for half the price probably.

Very much on topic. I agree that this Carter image is about as boring as it could possibly be considering how many iconic dunking images exist. Sadly, I think Topps' photo selection for flagship is eternally inconsistent.

People have to understand....Fanatics is CHEAP....they're not going to pay a penny more for images than they have to.

Because they know that these days, breakers are going to buy 80-90% of just about any product they release irrespective of product quality/checklist/price.

Bingo, and they will rehash the same designs from baseball. You will see it for football too.

No need for originality, they simply need to sell their lottery products for a consumer base that has zero discretion. The box flipper bois will follow where the money is, too.

Redemptions, sticker autos, inflated prices - the degenerates will buy regardless.

I actually feel the opposite -- I think cool action shots would be better served with base cards where the photography can make a card unique, while autograph cards should emphasize the face and front of a player.

In regards to the 45th anniversary cards, the photography used in the original 1980-81 set had classic poses -- no dunking and an emphasis on fundamentals.
