Cheap Wax for Christmas

Starting to look at picking up some wax for my son this christmas.

The 2023 series 2 jumbos for under $100 and 2022 Heritage High for $50 seemed to have dried up.

Any advice?

Is 2020 Chrome that bad?
$125 for a chrome hobby box seems cheap

2017 Stars and Stripes for $80 seemes to have some decent auto names.

2020 Heritage High can still be picked up for pretty cheap. ROA checklist is pretty good. I just bought some from my LCS for $54/hobby

You can get 1989 Bowman for about $40 a box. Go Griffey hunting!

Not much post-2015 baseball that is affordable.

You might be able to find some 2015 or 2016 stuff that is reasonable since it's pre-Judge/Ohtani.....

Retail display boxes are a good cheap(ish) option. Have gotten some good autos out of recent Bowman ones.

And they generally offered loose box options at the same (per box) rate too.

Of course, you’ll still need to spend $199+ (or whatever the threshold is) to get free shipping.

But yeah, I’d just wait for BO’s Black November deal (while still attempting to get good products at MSRP or via EQL ofc).

buy a cheap box or two, buy a hi end single or two from said product, re-seal 1-2 loose packs. You save lots of money, kid gets better cards and still excitement from ripping it himself. I do the same thing and only bad thing is my kid's unrealistic expectations for how often you hit superfractors.

The all time best buy was the 2018 BF with the $600 20 box case of 2017 Optic Football mega boxes.

I just checked my purchase history; the Mega case sale was in 2019. I purchased mine on November 1st, 2019, so it must have been their Black November sale. On Black Friday in 2018, they had a 20-box case of 2017 Optic Football blaster boxes for $200.

Get em the Topps Holiday megas they do every year for something most up to date and current then wait for BF and get one of your suggestions or see something else for a deal. I get shopping early but if you’re on a budget I don’t know why you would even ask this question before BF. Not a shot I was doing the same awhile back looking at boxes on sale etc then realized worst case scenario it’s same price best case it’s discounted worst worst case I buy now THEN it gets discounted for BF.

Because 2022 Topps chrome update was printed to the moon and they had poor QC, you can still find fairly decent prices on it. It’s pretty fun to chase down the good rookie class at a fair price.

The Costco Superboxes are a lot of fun to open for around 40 bucks each.
They already had some earlier this year, so maybe they'll have some for the holiday season.
