A high average hitter with moderate 10-15 home run power seems almost like Arraez like.

I should probably just read the thread but how good was Greenwell and why weren’t there more seasons like ‘88?

He wasn’t a power hitter at all.. but he was a solid hitter with a great eye at the plate. He has more walks than strikeouts. He has never stuck out more than 46 times in one season. On top of that, he seemed like he was well liked on his team. He wasn’t a “star” at all, but he was definitely a solid baseball player.

I actually pulled two of his autographs out of 2014 Topps Archives that year, one a gold version and the other a printing plate. I couldn't believe it. I enjoyed watching him play too. RIP, Mike.

Greenwell was one of my favorite players as a kid also. RIP.

Not to argue, but Greenwell was absolutely a star. When he came up for good in 1987 he shared LF with Jim Rice ultimately taking over. He probably wins the MVP if not for Canseco going 40/40 for the 1st time in history. Greenwell was very popular. Injuries just derailed his career.

RIP

He was huge for a while back in the late 80s.

Career .303 hitter in 1,200+ games. Very impressive.

Loved his Fleer Pro-Visions card from back then, "Green Monster's Friend".

Rest in peace, Mike Greenwell.
