Decided to renew my membership, even though I am disappointed in how they slab vintage cards. $130 for $150 credit and 10% is a decent deal.

I believe it's only for the Bulk service level (with the minimum lowered to 10 cards) at $10 per card. You also receive a discount based on your membership level. You likely won’t see these cards back until late winter, but it’s a great option for PC cards intended for the registry.

Not $10 per card. It is still $14.

They should offer an option to upgrade your order from Bulk to Economy for a little more than what the price difference is. I would be willing to pay that at this point.

Calling out CGC with this BS. Sent in cards to get reholdered, they have holders for 1952 Bowman. They didn't even try to reholder. Left the card in the same sleeve and just transferred over. The Berra had the same exact sleeve defect. I want to support them, but they didn't even try here.

Still annoyed they didn't put my 1952 Bowman in the correct holder. However, had an order pop today. Only one card got the dreaded sleeve out of 30. Much better CGC! The Worthy got a PSA 6 and had no idea why. Then I sent it back and it got a PSA 5. Cracked it again and looked at it for 20 minutes to see if I was missing anything. Finally got its forever home graded correctly. Have a few more cards you can see in the vintage pick-up thread. Working on the Goldy rainbow. Have the /60 Black already graded with CGC. Want the /60 Hope Diamond, Target Red, and Walmart Blue in CGC 9 plus to match.

Service Level: Standard (10 day TAT @ time of submission, still @ 10 now)
Order Shipped: (USPS Priority Mail)
Postal Delivery: 10/01/2025
CGC Received: 10/01/2025
Scheduled For Grading: 10/06/2025
Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging: 10/07/2025
Quality Control/Finalized: 10/09/2025
Grading/Quality Control: 10/09/2025
Shipped: 10/13/2025

Interesting about this submission, I've never had a sub physically delivered and marked Received by CGC on the same date. Also, it went QC/F then G/QC. Every other sub I've noticed those two steps are reversed.

Not a tux, but the label for CGC most favor the SGC label, except a pristine.
Standard and higher are much faster.

Fifth update. Cards were moved to "Grading/Encapsulation/Imaging" on Friday.

Agree with this. They appear to be fast-tracking Economy while letting bulk just sit with zero updates (well some bulk submissions and not others for some reason). I would pay right now for this if offered

They are just as bad as PSA right now. I really wish it wasn't the case because I really like CGC. Example, Skipscards posted above that his bulk order was delivered on 8/25, logged 10/1, and into grading encapsulation on 10/10. My bulk order arrived 8/15 and hasn't moved past received. I am reaching out to them today to try to see if I can't trigger some movement.

It took five minutes to get a response from CGC.

"I don't have an ETA of when the order will move to the next step. I only know our overall turnaround estimates. As soon as your submission moved into the grading status, it will update online. The grading process is fairly quick from there."

When I called a week or two ago, the rep was adamant that they operate in order of received within the same tiers. It simply cannot be the case based on the above info. I must have been given false information by the rep. Mine is 8/20 received with no status change beyond received.

The rep I am chatting with at least gave me some helpful insight. Essentially he told me that for bulk, if you want a status update sooner than later, don't use the quick submit option. He said quick submit submissions have to go through another department than regular bulk submissions. He said it doesn't affect the overall turnaround time, but it delays the status updates.

If it helps, I didn’t use the quick submit option.

That jives with what the rep said. If I do ever do a bulk order again, I will do the card look up on my own. But I think economy or bust with CGC right now.

Good to know. Still wouldn’t explain mine though, as I didn’t use quick submit…manually entered each card for the submission.

I will grant that maybe it depends what the submission is…sports, nonsports, tcg. How many cards are in it, that sort of thing. But I’m still convinced CGC is just randomly grabbing packages to process, based on what I’m seeing.

The fact more people are using CGC is a good thing, but with more volume comes slower times. I cannot say it enough! Use the higher prices options. Those are indeed faster. I don’t even consider bulk at the moment. If the value of the card merits it, I will pay the express price for 5 day turn around and yes! My last one I had the grades in 4 days.

Sixth update. Cards were moved to "Grading/Quality Control" today.

To be fair, it’s not the longer turnaround time itself (caused by volume etc) causing some of the the issues above, it’s more CGC blatantly doing packages out of order. Also, if there is an increase volume, it sure doesn’t seem to affect some things at all, as we see CGC hyper-fast tracking Economy shipments left and right, 40 TAT’s reduced to like 5 or 6 days. Had one myself back in late august that was economy and like 6 days total TAT (estimate: 40 days). The issue is more that CGC seems to be devoting any and all efforts to hyper fast tracking that while letting Bulk go to 80 day TAT without updates or even logging it in.

Knowing that CGC operates this way, if I do submit to CGC again, for sure I will be only be using Economy as a lowest option. Since it’s basically a ‘screw you’ to those doing bulk (well to at least some). Only reason I went with bulk for the above sub is because it was 80+ cards…but even that I’ll be doing economy if I ever submit again. I keep getting issues with almost every sub I do with CGC, that I may just look elsewhere…pay the higher price for PSA I guess.
