Just being a sports card historian here. It's great that you and a few other people here like the design better (I don't. The lack of a border makes it look cheesy in a way, even if the patch is great).

But it doesn't, because of lineage. The same thing that NT has going for it, and the same thing that's been driving sports cards for decades upon decades. And that's what it comes down to.

I agree that I don't think it will surpass NT. My only point was that it's not because it's an "insert." When it comes up for auction no one thinks "that's a Mahomes RC insert auto." They just look at it as his Flawless RPA.

Yes. Same reason why a Bowman or Bowman Chrome Brady rookie with 10k+ pop among PSA/BGS is worth a ton, because it's an iconic card and top brand at the time.

People like flawless, people like NT…both look great though I prefer the esthetics of NT…not a fan of a plain white background .. I do like the foil of flawless better around the patch . That being said, no one is dropping 6 figures on flawless ..until then Nt Remains king. It stems from LeBron exquisite RPA ..NT is the lineage from that . Problem with flawless is also most players don’t have a flawless RPA vs most players are included in the NT RPA set..this leads to continuity. Pop count don’t matter as much as being iconic ..most websites, pages, instagram , national etc showcase NT..rarely do we even see flawless in the cardboard media.

The true rpa in NT for 2017 are horizontal, same for nfl 2019. There are the colossal rpa Nt that are vertical.

A black /5 NT bgs 8 just sold for 115k, up from two years ago where it sold for 80k ish

What do you think of the Knight's Templar RC?

I remember seeing someone post a few about a month ago here. I never saw that card before, it looks cool. Didn't even know what set it was, apparently just "Panini" flagship. Obviously not a great set. Beckett's "Mahomes RC ranking" similar to the Brady one they have, had it ranked very close to the bottom. Cheaper set, but it looks cool at least and is a parallel with low pop.

Also looked into Mahomes' autos, don't know much. Does he sign a lot? Doesn't seem like it. And what is the going price in general? A non-RC auto seems pretty cheap honestly. Relatively.

It's a nice looking card, basically a metallic looking version of his base RC. I own one, but haven't taken any pictures of it. I would personally recommend his Shining Armor though. It's from the same set, usually costs only slightly more, and has the same metallic look to it, except it's a refractor. Here's mine:

I think that's a great looking card. Funny how the set matters so much, makes sense I guess. But there's a big gap from the templar to shining armor right now, guess I'll check for auctions. Thanks

No problem. It's definitely worth the extra $$$ in my opinion. The colors really pop out when light hits it. I think it has a shorter print run than the Templar too, but I'm not sure.

I think that's true of a lot of cards. But yeah, could have rebought some of them for much less.

Mercifully I mostly sold during that time, and only bought very random vintage.

Turns out that was a good move to be selling then. Fortunately I bought the vast majority of my collection in 2018-2019, while they were still "cheap." I bought some during the bubble, and definitely overpaid for a few, but nothing massive. Overpaid $100's rather than $1000's. Hopefully in the long run I will be glad I held onto them.
