Fast turf across the league
Better receivers across the league
This militant, aggressive protection of quarterbacks
VR tech for quarterbacks to get reps
Can barely touch recievers
Fear factor of going over the middle is lessened because of rules enforcement
Great quarterbacks left their digital blueprints for new quarterbacks to learn from.
Offensive linemen get away with more holding

All this has created better stats for nfl quarterbacks. Today’s game is much different than the early to mid 2000s game. Anybody calling it apples to apples clearly wasn’t following the NFL back then.

+1 +1 +1

Tom Brady, in his 2nd year as a starter, led the NFL in TD passes.

Now why do you have to be like that?

Is it because i’m posting facts that work against the narrative you and tj and KardsC are trying to push?

This isn't exactly accurate.... Nfl passing yards per game has been going down.... It's 210 per game right now.. Similar to the 2000 era... Per PFR

Thanks, I appreciate it. Absolutely no need to apologize, I jumped into the middle of this 'debate' because of a few specific things said.

I know how annoying and circular these are whether it's LeBron/MJ talk or Brady/Mahomes it gets bad.

Even in 2002 leading the league with 28 TD passes was unlikely; it was the lowest high since 1992 at the time

When you look at "per game" you ignore the fact that they play 17 games now. So seasonal passing yards are adjusted upwards by a large amount on that fact alone.

Plus last year was an anomaly. It was an unusually low number. The current 5 year average is 218.68. The 5 year average in 2001 was 206.36.

So a QB in 2001, using the 5 year average, would get 3,301 yards. In 2024 the same QB gets 3,718 yards. These eras are not the same.

I'm not pushing any narrative. I rarely check this thread because of trolls like you and delta5. Why don't you just give it a rest and touch some grass?

And I'm all for having good factual debates... And have no problem with guys saying Brady will always be their GOAT.. I get it... I've been a Chiefs STH for 20 years... Mahomes is the best player I've ever seen.... We had won like 1 playoff game in 30 years before him.... Id take him over anyone... But id guess him and Brady end up 1-2 in some order...

It's basically gone done every year since 2020...which is alot of Mahomes career... So it's trending downward... From 240 to now 210....17 games means nothing to per game averages... Defenses are making offenses go on long drives now.... Less drives per game.... I don't really care about season totals..

No, it basically hasn't. It peaked in 2020. It came down in '21, it came down in '22. Then it basically stayed the same in '23 and '24. The grand total difference of those 3 years is less than a single yard so that is leveling off, not coming down.

It then came down in 2024 to a very low number of 210, but 2024 seems to be the outlier. This year's average (so far) is back up to 224 YPG so we have seen quite a resurgence.

17 games means nothing to per game averages but it sure means a lot when you look at season totals, which most people do.

Like I said: An average (using 5 year rolling averages) QB in 2001 threw for 3,301. The exact same guy in 2024 threw for 3,718.

Not only that, yards are not created equal since they changed the kickoff rule drive starts at 35 yard line compared to old days where drive starts at 20-25

You realize that during what was probably the longest stretch of dominance by the Patriots (2012-2019) they started 2-2 four of those eight years right? The Chiefs might very well miss the playoffs, someone no one with objectivity expects, but they aren't in any more of a "real possibility" to miss the playoffs than the Patriots were so often during that stretch. The only exception being that the Chiefs have a much harder division this year than the Patriots did during those years.

The hypocrosy of the guy you quoted when the only thing he can hang his hat on was a regular season win against Mahomes and he made it his avatar here. Hilarious him talking about the patheticness of Mahomes fans raving about regular season stats

Alright if you wanna bring regular season stats, Allen has 4 more TDs than Mahomes on regular season in 1 less game

Sunday football ain't the same without the Chiefs. Anyone have a stat breakdown of how Mahomes does on Monday nights?
