Default eBay seller to avoid the_barry_larkin_master_collection LOSER

So I am actively collection the 1998 Donruss Preferred Prized Collection Cards. Got lucky on an auction and won thos Barry Larkin for a great price. 177437773144

https://www.ebay.com/itm/17743777314...tedSearch=true

As soon as I won the card, I got nervous the seller wouldnt send the card. Sure enough refunded me today 4 days later. No message, nothing just a refund and claims my address was bad on reason to eBay. People like this suck. I cant leave FB for them either. My guess someone went behind my purchase and offered more or they jist will wait a month and relist. But I would expect more from someone with over 2K postive FB. Sadly, people just suck.

His Larkin collection pales in comparison to F5's.

Yeah that sucks big time!

Only recourse wouldn’t be ethical so not worth it

You can usually leave feedback eBay just makes it difficult.

See if this link works for you. You need to use the website not the app.

Clearly your fault. Don't win it for such a good price next time!

I spoke with him as I was following both of his auctions. He said he changed his mind and ended the auctions early and when he ended the auctions, ebay sold the cards to the current highest bidder. I didn't think you could even cancel an auction with bids, but if you can, I definitely don't think the card should go to the current high bidder. I know myself and someone else were prepared to pay much more than the current bids for those cards. Seller claimed ebay told him he could end the auctions as long as there was 12 hours left, but when he did, they mistakenly sold the cards. He said he was working with ebay to figure out what happened as the cards weren't supposed to be sold when he ended the auctions early. I don't know what happened, the whole thing was strange. But I think he got nervous about slow bidding and changed his mind about using ebay auctions to sell them. I think that was a mistake because I know for a fact had he let the auctions run they would have skyrocketed at the end and he would have been happy.

I know another Larkin guy who was planning to go hard for that card. You had some stiff competition had that auction played out to the end. I'm glad I have that card already, but I do need the Golden Anniversary he was selling.

He didn't "win" them at all. He had an early bid in and the auction was canceled early. Believe me, had that auction continued it wouldn't have ended at that low price of his early bid.

If the auction is still outside the final 12 hours, I think you have to cancel all the existing bids first before ending the auction if you don't want the item to be awarded to the highest bidder -- otherwise, you're basically just ending the auction early and not cancelling it:

It doesn’t take a genius to figure out this isn’t a $16 card at auction. If you hit a BIN, I’d have sympathy for you but clearly there’s more to the story here since it was an auction.

That makes perfect sense. This seller seemed very inexperienced and just thought he could end the auction without canceling bids.

When stuff goes sideways I would have been 100% OK. Just reach out and say. Sorry. I messed up on the auction. I need to cancel the puchase. Dont sit on it for 4 days, no communication then put some bogus reason. Honesty goes a long way and most people are understanding. The reasons you all are stating makes perefect sense now that I look at it. I am still irritated he didnt have any common decency to send a message first but at least it makes more sense now.

Now you have to find the seller on social media and submit your insane bid to win this off eBay. Should be lots of fun!

So he probably just doesn’t send the cards takes the negative feedback then just lists them again later for big $$$.

Sorry dude, that sucks. Dealing with something similar myself.

Going on day 9 of buying a Junior Caminero RC Halloween parallel that still hasn't shipped and the seller won't respond. Thanks for the heads up and pointing it out.

If this is the case, why not just tell the buyer this and move on, probably ends much more amicably....instead, by lying about address is wrong, etc., you create a bigger issue, imo.

Exactly this. This isn't an unexperienced seller or eBay user either. He has over 2800 feedback. He should know how auctions work and how prices go crazy in the final minute. Making up some bogus excuse about the address says a lot about this seller.

He definitely should have communicated better. I'm just pissed he ended the auctions in the first place. I wanted a card I might never get a shot at again. He bungled the whole situation from the start. I was just reporting what I found out from the seller, not supporting it.

I imagine he will repost it somewhere else unless someone has already messaged him and they did a deal off eBay

yeah i've had sellers contact me after auction ends telling me they can't find the card blah blah blah and send a refund. Didn't leave feedback and just moved on...cards weren't as rare as OP's.

Quite possible the seller got an offer he didn't want to refuse through a message. If so, crappy to anyone bidding or planning to bid and wasting time.
