Decided to do a PSA basic Topps run of one of my favorite players of all time.

Started by picking up the 1973 Topps at The National. It was my first National, and my first pick up at the actual show.

Then I picked up the 1974 Topps at the Dallas Card Show over Labor Day weekend.

Well fellas, sorry to bump an old thread. I need somebody to talk me out of selling my HOF Auto collection. Already started moving the 8x10s, but now really thinking about moving the cards. It's a very minor collection with 90% of them being on card and licensed. Have roughly 60 different HOFers, so 17% of the current group of guys. I can't keep up with cards and the memorabilia side, since I do like the look of a signed baseball more than a card in most instances.

Sorry for the ramble, just slowly falling out of love of the hobby, but want to try and keep it around and pass it on to my 2 boys at some point (4 & 7)

I can't talk you out of it, because I collect HOF autos, and wouldn't mind seeing your collection for sale on eBay. Perhaps, I would say, what was the original reason you started to collect these HOF autos? If it was for your children, then you should continue to hang on to them, so you can gift it to them one day. If it was just for you, then sell them... because if you no longer enjoy them, then neither would anyone else in your family.

I talked to my sons and they don’t want my collection. They said “that was your thing”. They want one random common as a memento. With rare exceptions, I don’t buy anymore unless it is for a project I started long ago. I think a lot of us think about handing down our collections but I think it is frequently not really something our heirs also enjoy. I would advise keeping a few of the auto’s that mean the most. Spend the sale proceeds on making memories with your kids. I’m sure you would rather have them appreciate all of the cool stuff you did together versus the stuff you leave them.

More or less started it since I'm a just a baseball fan in general, and wanted to collect the 'history' of the game. My oldest just turned 7, and he doesn't have much interest in baseball. He enjoys going to a game every year now, but that's about it. He's been drawn to the bobblehead collection more. When he was 3 or 4, he had to make sure all of the heads bobbled, haha.

That's kind of where I'm at. Like I said above, my oldest is 7, but doesn't have much interest in baseball. Could only get him to do tee-ball for one year and then he said he didn't like it. I'd still buy the signed baseballs, but really considering getting out of the card game. The last 5 years or so, the hobby has changed so drastically that I don't find it as enjoyable as I used to
