Just saw a T-Mobile commercial on MLB Network with Cal Raleigh. I imagine it's just regional but I'd like to think those in Ohio are being subjected to it as well. Those poor people could sure use a pick-me-up.

They were showing it during the All Star Game/Home Run Derby here in WNY.

I'll be honest, had no idea who it was just by the visual, but I tend to check out on baseball until playoff time...

The best part about 57 HR’s is that no matter what analytics might say it’s still 57 HR’s. Most ever for any switch hitter. Most ever for any catcher. Most ever for any Mariner. Nice job Cal!

3 games against the Rockies and their atrocious pitching, I'd be shocked if he doesn't break the record

Definitely a chance to set the AL record. Would love for him to do it but that’s a big ask the last 6 games.

If he can at least match Judge, I think the MVP race turns into a coin flip. He hits 63+, that should tilt the scales for him just enough to win it.

No, he really doesn't have a shot. It would require 5 home runs in the final 6 games -- actually, it would be 7 home runs in the final 8 games when you factor in Saturday and Sunday.

He did have 6 home runs over 8 games in both mid April and mid June, but not 7 home runs in any 8-game stretch this season. Of course, he was on another level in the first half, with a 1.011 OPS and 38 home runs in the first half versus an .853 OPS and 20 home runs in the second half.

If he somehow manages to pull it off, he needs to get tested for PED use immediately.

He’s at 58 records 62 that’s 4 to tie 5 to break it with 6 games left and yes we know you’re not a believer and he should be tested lmao. Like he hasn’t been already.

Absolutely amazing season by cal MVP in my book and I have a feeling it might not just be my book. That Fwar is getting real close again and I don’t care about b war in this situation as bwar doesn’t factor in pitch framing for catchers and that’s why there is such a big difference in the two wars. Cal squats behind that plate most nights takes foul balls off his neck thighs bat swings clip him. He goes to hitting meetings starter pitching meeting bull pen meetings. He plays dang near everyday always available. There was a reason why the record was 48 for catchers because the job is the most demanding in baseball and Cal has shattered it. If the mariners win the division for the first time in a quarter century and Cal leads them into the playoffs with a bye all while hitting 60 HRs he will be the MVP and I will be here for the absolute meltdown of blowout

Regardless of where he ends up, it's an obscene number of HRs this season for Cal. Will be hard to replicate but even if he hits around 37 a season over the next 3, gets him on the top 10 list for the position. I'm mildly surprised you can still pick up a raw flagship RC for a few bucks. Goes to show how much base is out there from recent years.

Except when Judge wins we will never hear from you again. Well, besides the JRod pump thread where you mostly talk to yourself.

The base production may have something to do with it, but I think the reality is that Cal doesn't have much hobby upside, mostly because he has little shot at the HOF. He'll be starting off the season next year at age 29, with just over 150 HRs, a .225 career average, and less 500 hits. Unless he hits 63 HR or gets MVP, his season will most likely go down as a feel good story, that will be filed away with many feel good stories from the past.

Yankee fans absolutely not giving the dumper his due. That's OK I'd expect nothing less. Listen, if Cal was out there sun-bathing in right field all season he might have the AL record already. Alternatively, if Cal was playing in pinstripes he'd be the locked in favorite for the award. Being an M's fan you know how this goes.

Also - Judge is having a pretty fantastic season. I'm good w/ either winning it. As is now, it'll be a stretch for Cal to get it all things considered.

You do know he is playing 3 games against Colorado who have beyond atrocious pitching, if he gets 62 before his final game or 2 I can see pitchers (if they have nothing to play for) doing what they did to Judge and essentially serving him a meatball until he gets its
