Anyway, maybe the roaches scatter and move over to sports?

Thoughts?
Please tell me you used Card Ladder for this.

This post has kept them at bay.

Pokemon ain't going anywhere soon. This from a guy who doesn't know the first or last thing about it, but these adults played this game as kids, and it's their time to shine.

The question now is what do kids do today that we can profit on in 10-15 years?

I had kids into Pokemon back in '98 or '99 when it debuted all the way up to now with my youngest. Its popularity definitely waned early on but came back strong last decade and hasn't really let up.

That said, I think this current jump is driven by adults...probably the ones that were kids last decade is my guess. My kids got into it to play, but most of my kids friends that are into it only "collect" so I get the impression that it'll have some real staying power into the next decade, at least.

However, today's current bubble is probably due to deflate some in the next year or two as the value prop comes down. I see something similar happening to sports...except maybe on a longer timeframe.

I don't really feel like sports and Pokemon have a huge overlap...some, for sure, but not enough to really influence each other too much outside of the flippers.

Wall Street Journal has a current article titled “The trading cards that outperform the stock market” with a little thumbnail showing a graded gaming card. Paywalled for me but just wondering which product(s) they included.

Full Disclosure: I own one gaming card. The “Injection Fairy Lily” made me laugh when I saw it.

I would like to see a Wacky Packages take on gaming cards, or really any new try with that product line.

Never seen that before and not proud to say, but I laughed WAY too hard at this.

To answer the OP question:

The Pokemon bubble is not bursting anytime soon. I'd say we have another 10+ years of irrational man-children running over each other in Costco/Wal-Mart aisles.

How are you going to attract any of these peabrains into this thread without a measuring contest or conspiracy theory?
