first game of the season, give the kid a little break. playing in a hostile environment. He looked better in the 4th quarter.

Yeah, opening on the road against the defending national champs not easy.

Anointing him a generational player before he became a full-time starter was premature.

Saying he's toast after one game against the defending champs...also premature.

I think this will be great.

1. We get to see how he bounces back. Tells us what we need to know about his character.

2. Gives him motivation and humbles him.

The way he answers the above two will tell us if he is a “generational” talent.

Sorry, but a "generational talent" wouldn't have gone 17/30 with 1 TD and 1 INT with a paltry QBR of 58.0 and lost the game to the defending National Champions in his first game.

Generational Talents would've put up better numbers and won the game.

I'm not overly worried about his performance vs. last season's number 1 defense. It was an ultra low scoring defensive battle predicated on the physical run and relatively conservative passing to keep the game manageable (both teams).

Not ready to crown him Luck 2.0 just yet, but also not ready to slap on the Jamarcus tag either.

Even generational talents have bad games.

Arch will be fine. He needs to settle down and Texas’ next few opponents will allow for that.

Exactly. Let's pump the brakes a little bit. Every generational player has had multiple bad games.

There were glimpses where you could see his NFL arm talent, so I'm not concerned that he struggled mightily. He'll get into a groove at some point.

Exactly, in the long run, this game will be good for him. The hype and expectations were so over the top. It was stupid. Probably got to his head. Now, everybody can reset and get to work. The Heisman isn't just be given to him. Coaches need to get him back to basics and that will be easier now. Arch just needs to settle in and keep improving every game.

I dunno, maybe y'all watched a different game than I did, because I didn't see much NFL talent, and I watched most of the game. I absolutely did not see "generational talent", that's for damn sure. He didn't look anything like Cam Newton or Vince Young.

I saw some questionable decisions (that 2nd INT, that was called back for example), and some of his throws were way off the mark, and some looked like ducks.

If Texas somehow loses to San Jose State next week? Hoo boy. Watch Out.

He looked a lot better and more comfortable in the 4th. His first ever start in o end the hardest stadiums to play in as a visitor. Against the defending national champions. He’ll be fine.

Yeah he got a bunch of tds against a bad team by hitting some open guys, but he doesn't look like he has good mechanics. Still a lot of throws with his momentum going the other way. Maybe this is a Mahomes effect were all the kids want to try to pull of circus plays these days.

11/25 -- 44% CMP -- 114 YDS -- 1 TD -- 1 INT -- 87.5 RTG

Despite the win, where we at on Arch Manning the day after his disastrous day?

Still buying?

He’s going to have to stay another year. Too many glaring holes. Hard to see how he’s anything but a mid-round project pick at this point.

Saw him play in person last night and to say he is horrible is an understatement. He was 12-27 for 132 yards, and he was as accurate as an early pregnancy test kit from Walgreens. Never seen a QB miss receivers who were wide open - threw behind them, over their heads, at their feet. He has to have a must play him clause because there is no way the backup is worse than him.

Last 2 games he has looked like a good college qb

No clue if he will ever be more than that. But at least he seems to be making progress. Which makes sense
