I just bought a Soto. It's a Yankees card. Do you guys think those cards don't really hold their value going forward cause it's him on the Yankees? Thoughts? I was interested in Dynasty but nothing Mets. Think this year Dynasty is a dud for him?

"A typical player peaks around age 26 and gradually declines afterward in what we know as the age curve."

From 2021:
https://blogs.fangraphs.com/checking...e-aging-curve/

Soto will be just shy of his 29th birthday 2 years from now. He will not be entering his prime in 2 years. He's already in it.

Note “a typical player” in your source.

Juan is NOT your “typical player “.

Again, his peak has not hit yet. And yes!, I’m putting my money on it.

In my opinion, I don’t they will be anything special. Ichiro had a moment in a Yankees uniform and his Yankees cards do not demand more money.

BOTH EBAY AUCTIONS:
2018 Topps Dynasty Mariners Auto /10: $1,153 (8/17/25)
2024 Topps Dynasty Yankees Auto /5: $737 (8/14/25)

The Yankees Topps Dynasty had a lower print run (/5) and it sold around one-third less.

"As I alluded to earlier, the age curve is a useful illustration of what happens to player performance over time, but the wide range of outcomes means that almost anything can happen for any given player in a season."

What makes Soto atypical? The article didn't touch on predictive measures.

He could age faster than the average player, too. It is the future, and the future is unknown.

I had these forward-looking opinions of Soto in 2018. That was actually the time to buy his (2018) cards. I can say that now with certainty. And for some cards, the time to sell has passed.

Now, many are quite a bit more expensive than they were in 2018, and there is no certainty in what you predict. So the time to sell might actually be right now.

Whoever has a 2018 Topps Update Clear /10 or a 2018 Gatorade SSP Auto and would like to sell it, please reach out to me!

If that is your belief then sell! Sell! Sell!

What makes him atypical is his current WAR/accolades at his current age. Is he a typical 26yr old baseball player? NO…no he is not. That’s atypical.

We can enter into WWIII tomorrow and all baseball stops. You may pass from this life tomorrow. Might as well sell the house today.

Past indicators for Juan means future achievements when looking at trajectory. That’s the best we can all postulate for the future. Will he achieve them? Only time will tell

Same reason people say he should DH will be the reason he can add 3 years to his prime window….possibly. And in the next 5years I think he grabs one more ring and a MVP maybe 2 MVP’s.

Thats my 2 cents, and it ain’t worth that !

Heck may be 40/40 talk with 120 runs 110 rbis and 130 BB if September goes like August.
