Title says it all- just curious what people are collecting these days
Edit- Poll allows for multiple options; only allowed me to put 10 responses, so feel free to elaborate on ‘other’. Last edited by ObanMontecristo; 09-02-2025 at 11:28 AM. |

The simplest way to describe my collection is team collecting, as my collection consists entirely of Cincinnati Reds players.
I like to look at my PC in 3 parts: (1) Vintage, where I collect complete player runs and other cards of Reds legends of eras past, including pre-war, and post-war players; (2) Barry Larkin, where I focus mostly on rare 90s inserts and other playing days cards; and (3) current Reds players and prospects, where I mostly buy 1st Bowman autos and Topps Chrome rookies (and a few other cards that catch my eye) of players I like to watch. I use collecting modern cards to connect with players I watch. I enjoy watching minor league games and following prospects through the minors, and buying cards of those players I like. Then once they make the majors, I buy their rookie cards. I will also buy the rookies and first bowmans of players who end up on the Reds that I like, even if they were in other organizations at the time. I'd say 95% of my collecting, both in time and money, is spent on my Barry Larkin PC at the moment. Last edited by OhioLawyerF5; 09-02-2025 at 12:05 PM. |

I collect all Yankee players in Yankee uniforms.
I have done Yankee PCs of Masahiro Tanaka and Luke Voit. I also made the mistake of trying to PC other Yankee draft picks that never made it to the show with the team. I collect a few sets every year like Topps Series 1, 2, and Update. I used to collect vintage outside of just Yankees, but stopped after the prices exploded during COVID. |

I’ve gone through a couple stages of collecting, including vintage and set building, and even prospecting for a bit. The last 10 years or so has been mostly modern (rookies and vet PCs, with a good but not exclusive emphasis on my home team, the Phillies).
Vintage was probably the safest play value-wise (and at times I wish I hadn’t given that up), but I find myself more drawn to modern cards, as it connects me with the current game and there’s almost always something new and cool to collect. |

A - BBCE sealed boxes
B - PSA 10 rookies (base only - no autographs, parallels, etc...) Everyone pretty much knows this already but I answered anyway The BBCE boxes are fantastic to display in my basement. I also have no interest in cracking any, my son probably does but tough luck, but I'll hang onto them and see what happens. It's been fun to buy boxes from when I was a kid. I don't have anything modern. It's all 80's and some 90's Everyone knows my PSA 10 story. I used to collect everything and anything. I've owned LeBron Ultimate 9.5/10 autos. I've owned a Brady Contenders. I've owned a Trout Bowman Chrome It just became way too much and I didn't enjoy collecting that stuff let alone the prices I wanted a Bernie Kosar RC. I wanted a Mark Price RC. I wanted an Eric Metcalf RC. I wanted an Albert Belle RC None of those are worth anything raw. That's just reality So I decided to buy PSA 10's of those cards for my Cleveland PC... and that PC just became a PSA 10 PC of all the players out there that I enjoy watching (which is basically everyone) So now that PC is like 3,000 strong for PSA 10's - Thankfully I was a little ahead of the curve compared to today's prices which I still pay - but I got a bunch of my stuff (Brady as an example) way cheaper And here we are today

My one true PC is Bethel Johnson (football). I also collect Adam Vinatieri in a Patriots uniform, but don't collect him as hard.
I also started collecting the Topps Factory Complete Sets last year when my son was born and plan on doing so until his 18th birthday.

Your PSA 10 collection is pretty cool in that we see a lot of cards we don't normally see as well as the ones we do. |

Currently, strong checklist, low pop, modern/ultra-modern insert sets. I have to find reasons to hate some sets just to keep my budget in line lol. I'm a sucker for WBC stuff too.

Matt Moore, even though he didn't pan out to be a super star its still fun collecting and searching for all that good stuff that I missed out on back in the day. If anyone has any tips on the location of his super autos Id greatly appreciate it!!

I try to manage the line between high end and stuff that just reminds me of being a kid I've got a 1986 Topps Football as an example, I got it at a price I was good with, but I've got stuff like 1990 Fleer Basketball... which is still a cool box but like $75 as there really isn't much in it outside of getting a PSA 10 Jordan or whatever... but I remember loading up on those packs Hell I've bought a few WWF boxes and even a Saved By the Bell (don't ask me why) that were just cool to have and display

As someone who grew up around the same time as you, I'll definitely appreciate such items regardless of worth. As someone who watched a little WWF (The Rock/Stone Cold Steve Austin/Triple H/Kurt Angle) and a lot of Saved by the Bell, I think that's cool. Shoot, I just ripped 27 boxes of GPK x Green Day (and didn't care about "ROI") because of some nostalgic Green Day memories with my wife (as well as East Bay references). |

I'm predominantly a team collector with several themes of Cleveland Indians cards: autographs, rare gu/patches, refractors (non-prospect products) and IP signed cards.
Also, for the past year or two I've been collecting older autograph cards without much structure. I just look for decent deals on players that were solid in the 90's-2000's that don't break the bank. Products from the 90's-2000's appeal to me more in general so it's been fun adding to that collection without any sort of goals or expectations.

My main focus is on baseball autographs (nowadays just Topps certified autos).
I also collect key rookies each season and rookie HFA from Flagship (I think I'm just missing 9 of these from 2022 up through 2025 Series 2 - Wander Franco, Cade Cavalli, Garrett Mitchell, Christopher Morel, Gavin Williams, Ronny Mauricio, Jackson Jobe, Luisangel Acuna and Jacob Wilson). Growing up I mostly focused on single-signed autographed HOF baseballs though, which I still have, but I stopped adding to this collection because I ran out of display space.

Team collector here.
I have the entire Topps flagship base run of Detroit Tigers from 1952 through now. All in binders. Most of the Tigers Hall of Famer rookie cards graded…no Cobb yet ![]() I also collect graded HOF rookie cards (collector grade or better) from 1969 rookie year on since that was the year I was born. Also PC some other interesting rookie cards and autos as well as interesting Tigers cards. |

This is actually how I got back into collecting… when my son was born I decided to build/get base Topps sets, but back to when I was born. Actually ended up going back a few years before that, so I’ve got 1971-2024. This reminds me that I need to pick up a 2025 Factory set to keep the run going…

I buy singles of players I like. The players I like are usually Marlins players, or players on my fantasy team.

Topps gold rc's are at the top. Ohtani, Trout and Harper I have full gold runs for. I have most of the top rookie golds for the last 10-15 years. Orioles/Ravens.
