Is there a reason why he went with such an exotic second name (alias)? It almost seems like an anagram -- like a jumbling of letters.

The Shyne name -- a nickname, I assume -- seems like a stereotypical online name for a seedy influencer. It's so tacky -- turning the word shine into a name by replacing the I with a Y. Why not go with something that is more respectable and not something a 12-year-old white kid who listens to gangsta rap would come up with?

This supposed influx of money -- I thought that ended years ago after the FED started raising interest rates and the easy money went away -- would only contribute to higher prices for everyone downstream -- end-consumers, namely.

If you're holding onto high-end cards of Kobe and Jordan, this sale is probably a good sign that your cards still hold good value. But if you're just holding onto mid-range cards as part of a collection or investment, why would this sale impact you? The super high-end market is not what 99.9% of hobby participants are involved in.

Great question. He had 9 years to come up with that second name too.

As for Shyne, it could allude to the rapper Shyne that went to jail for 10 years. I'm not quite sure the original rapper Shyne got caught moving 2000 pounds of drugs though.

Shyne was a once famous rapper who went to prison for a long time for shooting up a nightclub and was deported back to Belize upon his release.

IMO, no greater bullish market signal than anglo-americano cosplaying as this dude

spearheading the ultra-uber-mega-unobtainum high end marcado.

Often wonder if it's also his walk-out music when the kids are sleep and it's time to give wifey the bidniss.

Wait -- this is the dude who allegedly took the rap -- pun intended -- for P-Diddy in the nightclub shooting, right?

He was one of P-Diddy's -- ahem -- proteges back in the day.

I bought dude’s album back in the day. That song and “That’s Gangsta” were the only two good ones on the whole album.

If I remember right Shyne actually did the shooting but was instructed to by Diddy because someone spilled a drink on Jennifer Lopez or something.

I'd argue his charge did more for his career and life than his music ever could. He was basically the non-lyrical Biggie vocal knockoff with dimmer prospects than Farnsworth Bentley.

For as successful as Diddy was from a financial perspective, it's actually quite staggering how many of his artists were one hit/cd wonders. Suge's roster had far greater staying power.

Yeah Shyne’s buzz was quite large while he was in prison to the point he was on Usher’s remix to “Confessions” with a verse recorded on a prison telephone and was even signed to Def Jam who put out a sloppily cobbled together album titled Godfather Buried Alive. But once he got out of prison he was super wack like he had never even rapped before. Word this is even why he got deported (joking).

As for the last paragraph, Diddy did that on purpose because he was cheap. Sign a dude out of the hood, let him release an album or two with some big hits, then ditch him when he wants more money for his next album now that he’s an established name. Wash, rinse, repeat. Shyne, Craig Mack, Black Rob, The LOX, G-Dep, Yung Joc, Da Band, Gorilla Zoe, etc. The only reason he signed an already established act like 8Ball & MJG was to give Bad Boy South legitimacy.

Word. Comin' out Hard still in heavy rotation til this day (though I admittedly roll up the windows when the 2nd verse of Pimps comes on).

Puff pretty much signed established past-prime OG's at vet minimum to compile an 03-04 Lakers paper champ roster.

Though I will say Carl Thomas was a massive sleeper. Should have been way bigger than he was, along the likes of Joe and Donnell Jones.
