Default Jose Ramirez

I really do not understand why he doesn't get more love. This guy is the antithesis of everything bad in sports. He stayed local and hometown for way less money than he deserves. He is top 5 MVP every single season. You can look up the stats of whatever favorite local player you probably have and he is most likely better. This guy plays his ass off and will have a statue in cleveland one day. Jram is the man!!! He deserves your R-E-S-P-E-C-T! Dumb post---I know. I just want people to understand how good this guy has been and still is for such a long period of time.

Lock for the 300/300 club, highly likely to become only the second member of the 350/350 club (along with Barry Bonds), and with an outside shot of joining Bonds as the only two members of the 400/400 club.

But a hobby non-entity because he plays in Cleveland (much like Jim Thome was).

1st ballot HOFer for sure. I think he's a lot less "under the radar" than he was a few years ago.

Looks like the floor for his autos is $50 which is a far cry from when I picked up a Topps Dynasty of his for $40 on this very site a few years ago. It looks like Chrome and Finest rookie autos are in the $300-$400 range too. I wouldn’t call that a non-hobby entity although I feel like Dynasty in general is up as well.

He also did the world a favor and knocked Tim Anderson into irrelevance. Is that guy even playing baseball for a living anymore?

Yeah, I think Jose gets plenty of love. He's just so consistent now that nobody is "hyping" him. Which is fine. He's like Nolan Arenado. Large collector base, solid hobby value, but he's not getting new threads or influencer mentions every season.

He's clearly going to be a hall of famer. He's just not flashy and media attention all goes to Ohtani.

He's everything I would hope for in a star player and among the most well-rounded players of this era. He'll be remembered and compared with Arenado & Machado but IMO he's a tick above those 2 when you include the intangibles. For the last 5 years or so he has the only hitter in the Cleveland lineup that you feared.

His rookie cards are not cheap and neither are his premium cards from other years - but he seemingly has a million autographs (signs in everything) which is probably why his value may seem below where it should be

Because he plays for the guardians, is very quiet, doesn't embrace stardom, has never won mvp, - I could keep going

great player but not hobby relevant

"not hobby relevant"

Maybe not to you, but he is to others.

But yes, the fact that he plays in Cleveland, never won an MVP, etc does give him less visibility.

Barry Bonds for many years was also “ignored” by the hobby while he toiled away in Pittsburgh under the hobby shadows of Ken Griffey jr and Frank Thomas but he got his due eventually when you could no longer ignore his career achievements and large head.

What is hobby relevant to you? Topps Chrome rookie refractor auto going for $650 seems pretty hobby relevant.

You’ve got to have a card in all the cool insert sets.

He doesn’t.

Like which ones? Home Field Advantage? Looks like he has several years of those.

There are plenty.

Has he ever been a product box cover boy before?

Like which ones? Since there are so many awesome insert sets he’s been left out of.

His Topps rookie PSA 10 goes for $150+

You baseball boys have wild standards

Happy to buy them at that price though

You know my answer - gilded gold storm.

Anyone who is anyone is in that set. Bobby didn’t even make the cut.

Jose Ramirez is not a top 10 hobby guy.

Sorry to break it to you.

Josey will be in the Hall some day, he gets hobby interest to a degree, but never will be a huge hobby draw. I love the guy and he is great for the game. Seems like he can't get over the MVP for reasons that I don't want to argue about.
