There was a box opening posted above. Looks like 1 pack inside with several cards, mostly base. Plus one encased card, the hit of the box.

Got two boxes this week. Opened one instantly and will save the other for a few days. Quality is nice. But hoping for better cards in box 2.

Er, Dr. BOOM?
https://www.ebay.com/itm/40608413733...Bk9SR5ydjLCKZg For a piece of paper cut from a comic book that isn't even rare? Okey-doke.

They don't even say what issue it is from? Wow.

And of course it's a 1/1. No other copies of this comic exist, I swear.

I've been collecting soccer for decades, from vintage to stickers to trading cards and Topps Fanatics over the past couple of years have pretty much single handed pushed me away from modern sports entirely by themselves.

By cutting the panel out and putting it on a card, stamping 1/1, UD has made it a totally different collectible than the panel itself from a comic. This is not unlike UD taking common base 1992 Masterpieces cards, putting a meager buyback stamp on them, inserting them into packs of MM16 and voila, $50 or $100 cards that are viewed as totally distinct collectibles from the original 92MM base which it really is. But this is on an even more extreme level being a 1/1. Does it make a lot of sense…probably not! But if you compare it to just any card, the material itself it’s made from often isn’t the driving factor of value anyway. Old valuable baseball cards are just cardboard, a modern Marvel expensive PMG or parallel isn’t itself worth anything because the foil or chrome it’s made from. Thus the fact the actual material this Doom cut is based on, a worthless panel from a common comic, need not even be relevant to its market price or what drives that. Is it silly? Yes. Would I be paying thousands of dollars for it or anything from these Topps sets…heck no. But just trying to make sense of it. Now whether manufactured scarcity, which this Doom cut is, has any merits itself, especially in terms of long term organic demand…is a whole ‘nother question.

Well, I agree with all you said, but allow me to add some other layers on top of it:
-this was a SDCC "exclusive" release (at least for the time being, I know a full release is coming); SDCC things sell well and generally sell out easily -Topps is still new to the Marvel world -RDJ is now Doom in the MCU, so Doom seems to be more popular now for that reason Add all those together, and I completely get why the card exists. In fact, I can hear someone at Topps--"Hey, we have SDCC coming soon. We are still the new guys in Marvel and RDJ is Doom--let's make a 1/1 with Doom's face on it and insert it in!" There, that covered all three above. It is a lazy attempt at a cut card. But let's be honest, those boxes were going to sell out anyway and pop up on the secondary market for far more than they sold. Why? Because SDCC. I'm actually sort of happy, in an odd way that that card, as plain and uninspired as it is, actually saw the light of day. As opposed to sitting on someone's shelf sealed forever waiting for the right time to flip it. Overall, I am not impressed with Topps cut cards. The ones from '25 Chrome were only from a few issues. But, by that same token, I have some from UD that are pretty crappy, too.

![]() The most beloved modern Marvel sets are built on it. From 13 Retro, 16MM, 17FUSM...etc. etc. Example: ![]() Exact same card, just serial numbered lower. Any PMG from any set is based on the base card, just serial numbered, etc. While I love bashing Topps as much as the next guy ![]() As to the card in question having any organic demand...I'd say yes, they do. Comic Cuts have a decent following, with some regularly selling for hundreds of dollars, some up into the thousands. Now, if you ask ME if I'd pay that much for these particular cards...not in a million years. But there is demand for them. Quote:

The real Doctor Doom will attend your party for $2,500, you just have to book him through his agent.
I will say, the booth at Comic-Con was pretty classy. One wall was fabric with the image of Marvel Mint cards woven in to it and they looked sharp. I curse myself for not taking pictures of them. Maybe they'll cut up that fancy wall carpet and make relic cards out of it.

What a hit from my boxes of Topps SDCC Marvel Mint.
I’ve decided to start making box opening videos. I would really appreciate any and all of your support. I recently uploaded my first vids ever. Check them out. Plenty more to come. https://m.youtube.com/@Lateralus8665 |

It's sad for a collector to have to say this, but I am so glad neither of my PC characters are in this set.

The base design looks solid, but reminiscent of the tarot cards released in 2023:

10 card pack, $299? Is this the same configuration as the $99 SDCC box?
Marvel card collectors got the craziest pockets, I tell you. |

Did SDCC have exclusive cards or just the box it came in was exclusive? I think the cards look nice.
