In hindsight, I am surprised I was able to get a box of Dune with how crazy everything sells through Topps now. I also doubt they would have set a print run this low if they did it all over again. Fun little set!

Is topps still planning on doing a chrome set? I thought it was mentioned a few months back at the industry conference. Anyone know if they mentioned it at the national Q/A? Or have updates on it? I think it would be pretty great for the limited edition set, as will the next movie.

And yes I think there’s a topps chrome mentioned that topps said it recently on the sports card nonsense podcast. Maybe for the final movie at this point?

I think chalamet becoming a legit A lister has also helped since these are his “rookie” cards

I’ve logged pretty much every card I’ve seen online and almost half the numbered cards have been posted on eBay/twitter/youtube. I’d assume a decent amount never made it online

I feel like this set was designed to be a Dutch auction like the initial Zerocool releases and then just “dumped” by Topps once they folded Zerocool. Like a once in a lifetime thing that likely won’t be repeated for a property as big as Dune.

Also… currently no singles from this set on COMC.

As another data point I looked on the pop report and five Paul reds have been graded.

I also have two raw.

Gotta assume there’s another one to two raw out there so that’s eight to nine off the board.

Totally forgot about that. Yeah this fits the zero cool Dutch model but they didn’t want the headache and just dumped these fifty bucks on no notice

I think the 10xing of the Topps-side of the nonsports hobby is driving this train and the extremely limited nature of this drop (and popularity of the Dune movie) doesn’t hurt either.

This release was an abnormality in the modern hobby. Extremely limited print run and only $50 a box at release. How many sets do you see that are underpriced like that at release?
