2024 GPK Battle of the Bands - Green Day

Huh just saw this as a release for tomorrow on Topps site. Checklist is suprisingly large with autos.

They just did the WWE Cactus Jack Chrome release as EQL -- perhaps they'll do the same with this? Kinda came outta nowhere.

Boooo! Buncha sell outs. And no, not because of this, they've been that way for years.
Back when they made 'Kerplunk' in '91 or '92 on a DIY tour they made fun of Nirvana when 'Nevermind' came out for making videos for MTV and playing 'concerts' instead of 'shows'.

This set is like 4x bigger than it should be. A Kevin Smith style set that's 20 a/b cards is what I was expecting. I like Green Day, but nowhere near the amount to invest in buying boxes where it'll be hard to build a base set.

Topps/Fanatics is killing me lately with these gigantic sets and numerous insert sets. Chrome 7 and 40th are just not what I want out of GPK. It's not baseball, 400 card sets are crazy and all the added parallels make even building base sets difficult.

More importantly, Aaron Cometbus's "In China With Green Day" is being released as a book this month.

Anyone into punk rock but feels too old to buy zines should check it out.

It was previously released as Cometbus #54

I didn't get any website exclusive release for about a year until last week when I went for Bob Ross MLB.

It was "sold out" in 10 minutes, right when I was checking out.

Then people were posting about it still being available so I went back and got a box.

Topps now uses Shopify and there were major glitches that favored people who kept trying for Bob Ross.

No idea if this will be different since its a pre-order, but if it is sold out instantly I will try a couple more times.

Its humiliating, but worked last time...

I put four boxes in my cart but without odds posted, I just couldn't do it ... I'm not a crazy huge Green Day fan but they sure were a soundtrack for a summer or two growing up.

Base cards are still pretty awesome... I'm sure this release will sell insane.

If the Autographs are even 2 per case, it's a huge win, I think? Wonder how much was made and how difficult they will be.

I couldn't help but take a case... I love Green Day and not gonna pass up triple Auto relic chances.

Picked up a case but I'm a fan of Green Day.

Still remember my wife (then girlfriend) and I attending an A's game and getting to watch them perform afterwards (sitting/dancing on the field). Golden memories!

And their music just hits

Looking to be a pretty popular release, the cases are on the edge of sold out - have popped in and out of stock a couple of times already.

Yeah I would speculate it would be more like 1 in every 2 to 4 cases, perhaps the combined relic/au come down to 1-2 per case

Snagged a case, was thinking about 2 but without checklist or much more info can't do it

GPK in my experience doesn't instantly sell-out but if pre-sell cases are still available tomorrow they likely made a fair amount of this

I cancelled my case. The lack of odds and fact they dropped 10k+ boxes at preorder tells me this is printed really high. Also no mention of box contents.

Yeah, generally my experience is this happens as bots and multiple account holders have orders cancelled. Of course, it is possible that Topps is adding more stock, but I have seen this commonly on higher demand non-EQL release.
