Does anyone have any experience of sending a Beckett RCR card to PSA for crossover? Am I better off just popping it out of the sleeve and sending it in raw?

So you are going to put a min grade and ask them not to "cut" the sticker if it doesn't meet it? Are you hoping for a grade higher than the RCR? The other issue is how "clean" the cardsaver the the card is in now so that they can actually review it for a pre-grade to determine it meets the min at the very least.

Let us know how it goes.
If it's a 9.5, I'd bet < 5% chance of getting a 10. So for me it would come down to how much I want to protect that 9.5 grade from potentially becoming something lower than a PSA-9.

Thank you - purely by asking these questions I think you're giving me a pretty good steer.
It's a 9.5 RCR that basically I would rather have graded by PSA than Beckett. So given the difficulty of assessing it properly at the PSA end without taking it out of its sleeve and cutting the sticker, I'm probably best off prepping it myself and sending it in as a normal raw submission with the rest of my stuff.

^ that's probably the best plan. Trade the possibility of a grade lower than a 9 for a chance at a 10.
Here's my one experience with a BGS-to-PSA crossover: https://www.blowoutforums.com/showthread.php?t=1451439 (Not RCR, though)
The surface is the hardest thing to assess through the layers of plastic, so this validated my assumptions.

I would send to beckett and see if they'll agree with the 9.5, and with the subgrades you can decide if it's worth a submission to PSA.

Send it raw.
There's ego involved for the grader. "We're PSA, our PSA 10 is of a higher standard than a BGS 9.5". If it's been graded as a 9.5 by becket on all subgrades it will likely cross to a PSA 10 if they're giving you an honest grade. But it's PSA, so you might wind up with a random 6 that you need to crack and resubmit. |
