“Walking to New Orleans”would have been a better choice for Fats Domino-that’s where he’s from

Here's 1963's "Be True To Your School", a tribute to Southern California's Hawthorne High School, from co-writer Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, who graduated from there along with his brothers and bandmates, Carl and Dennis. (Co-writer Mike Love, the group's lead singer, and a cousin of the Wilsons, went to Dorsey High in Baldwin Hills, CA.)

This song (and Hawthorne's school fight song) are based on the melody of the University of Wisconsin's "On, Wisconsin!".

I also attended that same school for 10th & 11th grade, about 25 years later.

Rest in peace, Brian Wilson, fellow HHS Cougar.

La Grange?
I hear it's tight most every night, but now I might be mistaken.

Speaking of Boston, my mom (then living in Ohio) went on a trip there when she was 8 (1960) and got a picture standing in front of The U.S.S. Constitution. When I went there in 2015 I got a pic of my son (then 5) in the same spot, same angle. Love that.

D.I. sings 'I Hate Surfing In HB'. They also sing 'OC's Burning' and 'OC LIfe' but Orange County is a bunch of cities.

Gerald Levert is the best, 4:00 mark Gerald lets his emotion out. He steals this entire song from Michael Stanley.

Benjamin Orr at the 2:54 mark is very upsetting.

My Father (who passed away in January) grew up in Bethlehem, PA. So this song was particularly poignant. I remember when this song came out, it was as if Billy encapsulated everything about my Dad's life growing up the son of a steelworker in Eastern PA during the 1940's-1960's.
