I mean, it's fairly easy to comp out payers because 98% of them never transition to high level 2-way play. So a solid defensive base (which 80% of players don't have or or simply lack the desire to pursue) is an absolute bare minimum prerequisite, as it's not particularly difficult to drop 20ppg in today's game...but it is being a clamp for 48.

The only real exceptions are the BBIQ Euro wizzes that basically facilitate and control every aspect of the offense to the point where their lack of defense can sort of become overlooked. But even with Lulu that dynamic doesn't necessarily last forever...at least not if the hardware isn't coming in.

There will inevitably a few Poole/Herro/Monks in this draft just as there are every year.

Good for Geoff to start planning his next timeshare aquisition...not so good in moving franchise needles.

And so the Furph lore begins....

Straight Tomahawk Chambers on some unfortunate commons bin NPC.

Ain't enough pauses in Cam's bag to fully encapsulate this kodak moment.

Ive been on the Furphinator tip for a minute. I think he will be equivalent to Haliburton in effect, because he has defense and paint presence to make up for his lack of dribble-pass jujitsu. Indiana to the moon (just not my guy, please).

Haliburton was top 5 in VORP last year and top 10 the year before.

So you’re saying Furphy is gonna be a top 5 player in the NBA? Lol

No, I'm saying that with Nesmith and Nembhard running the actual defense and offense, he will slot in nicely and be usable enough. He has length and a 3, can dribble and pass. The Pacers system has taught him the necessary skillz.

Just as the Pacers have 4 potential centers, with Isaiah Jackson and Wiseman positioned to cover what Myles did. And more cap space to cover for contingencies like injury.

Call it an overreaction, I'm calling Pacers a top 5 team until proven otherwise. And the first month record will not reflect that.

Collectors, don't expect JF and CC to start dating or anything. I would be a buy at any pre-dunk price.

Don’t think people understand Hali was 6th in win shares and 4th in VORP last year on a 50 win team. He was also pretty bad the first two months of the season dealing with a back injury.

A healthy Pacers team in the east this season could have won 60 games, and Hali would have been top 4 in MVP voting if they did. Hali can say ‘I would do it all over again’ and that’s a valiant position to take, but the truth is that it was catastrophic for his career. He seems like an awesome kid and I hope he comes back stronger, but still gutted we don’t get to see his breakout next year.

Look it’s an overreaction thread so I’m all for this…but realistically I think they’ll finish around .500. If forced to take the over or under on that, I would go under.

I think the question for Furphy is if he can replace Toppin’s 15 million AAV at a lower cap hold. I don’t know the answer to that, mostly because the small ball Siakam/Toppin minutes actually had a better net rating in the ECF/finals than Siakam/Turner did. I don’t know if a Siakam/Furphy defensive lineup works; sure we’ll find out though.

I just think Nesmith is the ex factor. He worked with Nembhard since he came in the league (Summer League to be exact), creating a system in which the best players are the role players. The system is indestructible for the next two years, until all these currently bargain contracts get renewed or not. Sheppard could actually step in and be a starter at this point, believe it or not.

Mathurin will get that chance and I hope he has evolved his attack to the rim to include a reliable way of avoiding punishing contact. Probably should be doing 'create space' reps.

This is been hands down the worst summer league ever. There have been no exciting games, all the interesting players got shut down after 2 games max.

I get it from the teams perspective but what’s the point for the fans? 95% of these guys are not playing this season and these are like 60-70 point games of awful basketball

At this point there’s no reason to even watch

Yang is pretty raw still, but the upside is clear. He's got to unlearn that communist thinking about rebounding and go get the ball. As a Blazers fan I couldn't be happier about the pick (although I was initially like "Who the #@#@#@#@ is Yang Hansen?"). Pretty clear that Cronin knew he was their guy last year and made a brilliant move trading back to get an extra 1st.

Tre is who I knew he was. The real test for him will be if he can get better on defense. If he doesn't improve, he'll just be another Collin Sexton/Ant Simons.

I dunno, no one is really racist when you get beyond their haircut. I mean I complemented the sweater. I have four Aaron Nemith ugly sweaters and an ugly sweater is my only Justin Herbert. Oh and an ugly sweater keeps the streetlights out.

I have no idea what Google or Chat spit out, but the words I wanted to use were "young buck" (reminds me of a bucks fan) and what was the other, I forget. Acolyte?

At least ninja didn't refer to me in the pejorative "gaijin."

Haliburton is a perfect buy right now. If you are on the Hali train, and I always have been (how could I not, I mean Nesmith will make it his mission to keep a leadership spot on the team open) that Deca gold for $922 is about 10 times less than what it will go for in just a few years.
