This set was originally planned as a full release, with sketch cards.

Cryptozoic scaled it back to just 500 boxes.

Could be a sleeper hit, being so short-printed.

I got my two. I don't think it will be as big a deal with these as perhaps with other sets (certainly, sports sets) but there are 17 cards that are 1/1s in the 500 boxes, so the odds are pretty decent for finding one. There are also 6 cards numbered to 5.

It actually says limted to 300 boxes on the order page, but by the odds, it appears there must be 500 boxes. Perhaps those other 200 will be sold at the convention and then whatever is left, online.

My avatar here for years was a Gilbert Shelton illustrated Freak Brothers signed & numbered 5x7 bookplate that was created for the Freak Brothers Comix omnibus collection about 10 years ago. Later, I found the image in color and replaced it with that. It'll be nice to add a couple of card-sized autographs from this comics master to my collection.

Pre-sale is shown as sold out, but it's hard to know how many they actually sold today. Additional boxes will be available for sale at the show.

300-500 boxes sounds about right for an underground comic card set.

There was a two season Freak Brothers animated series made for Tubi recently, and I have a feeling this card set, as envisioned, would have been based on that, given that the cast autographs could boast John Goodman, Woody Harrelson, Tiffany Haddish, and Pete Davidson, assuming they could get any of them to sign. (Davidson and Haddish, at least, both recently signed for Pop Century). Numerous promos were issued a few years ago pointing to that, with verbiage referring to the TV series on card backs, and even a couple of new supporting characters from the animated series on the fronts, but I doubt we'll see that now.

Obviously, this is way better than nothing. In the Pantheon of Underground Comix creators, I have Gilbert Shelton solidly at #2, behind only the master, R. Crumb. These are autograph cards from a giant at a bargain price.

I found the cartoon pretty boring. Kind of surprised it got a second season.
