2002 finest refractor is one of my favorite non rookies.....color looks amazing in hand....and serial numbered to just 250

So we were in the back room at Gibsons one night after The National. We were talking shop about the print run of the 2018 blues. I was telling my boy, that I know for certainty that the print run is most likely closer to 30. And this guy butted in saying “nah, dog. everyone knows 2018 prizm football retail blues are to /7”….

Like the challenge of subbing & gemming acetates/clears. Between factory lines, easy aftermarket scratching & a decade of time that leads to inevitable yellowing, solid raw examples are few & far between.

Tough acetate in a throwback uni? Yes, please.

I love the finest brand and if you ask me truthfully, I think the ‘02 finest is the sharpest refractor of that year. And as ya noted, the rarest too, if I recall.

- Top card is a manufactured patch. Topps 2011? BCA patch. Hey, not a real one obviously but Panini is no better 95% of the time.

- Middle card is a National Treasures Timeline. Has the second best verbiage on the back saying Tom Brady personally used it in an actual NFL game, etc. Might be 2011-2013?

- Bottom card is 2004 or 2005 and states the goalpost is from the 2001-2002 Superbowl stadium in Louisiana. Thought it was a cool card. Might grade it someday.

PAPER!




Topps paper usually consisted of Gold, Black, Pink & Camos every year. There were some random colors peppered in through-out the years, most SP’d to under 100. Condition sensitive paper w less than 100 copies seemed like a no-brainer to start procuring earlier, rather than later.




Here’s a quick cheat-sheet of some of those SP topps color over the years


2007 copper /2007 (usually gold, except this year?)

2009 pink crucial catch /??? (fairly rare, only 5 graded to date)

2010 blue border /349

2011 red border /77

2012 orange complete set /86

2015 red foil /60

2015 tru purple /SSSP (toys r us exclusive, pretty rare)

Fairly certain that is the one I bought in April 2013, and held until July 2021.

It's the 4/10, right? If so, then I'm pretty sure I sold to someone else in 2021 (it was listed/"sold" at least twice on PWCC's site since I sold it).
