Love that the 6,000th post in this thread is a Bobby Baseball HR. He may be legit.

BWJ with a 14-game hitting streak! 4 HRs in the streak too, 3 in the last 5!

July Bobby:

.400 BA
1.132 OPS

Looking back at June: He only had 1 SB on 2 Attempts. I wonder if he was dealing with something that went under the radar that didn't cause him to miss any games, but to not try an steal bases or push for triples?

Shame on that caught stealing. MLB needs to have some sort of continuation rule that allows for a millisecond where you lose contact with the base when you're clearly safe.

A time when technology is overused and makes the game more complicated than it needs to be. I never saw anything clear and convincing to change the call.

Agreed. I'm a Mets fan and embarrassed by the whole situation. I don't blame them for challenging it late in the game, but can't believe it was overturned.

FWIW: WAR through age 25 season of current top MLB stars:

Trout: 54.6
Betts: 35.0
Machado: 34.4
Harper: 27.7
Lindor: 26.8
Witt (projected): 22.1
Jose Ramirez: 22.1
Witt (current) 19.2

Bobby very much off to a similar start as Jose Ramirez in this regard, it seems.

Funny part is the two hobby superstars did very little through age 25, Judge and Ohtani. So ya never know.

I think the next step for BWJ is being a little more patient at the plate and getting the walk rate up, he has pretty much everything else going for him at this point

I'm not a huge fan of this comparison as through age 25 some of these guys career lengths are very different and favors those who started early. Judge was in his rookie year at age 25 (an absolutely historic rookie season that produced an 8.1 war).

Look at these players first 4 full seasons. Min games of 100 to be counted.

Trout 36
Betts 33
Judge 26.6 (ignores 2017 40 games and 2020 28 games)
Machado 24.7 (2014 only played 80 games so I ignored this year. 22.5 if you include it)
Lindor 23
Soto 20.9 (ignores 2020 year drops to 18.7 if you include it)
Acuna 19.8 (He has only has 4 seasons where he played 100 or more games.)
Harper 19.6

Hobby darling status is super precarious. He'll probably stay in the top 10 with guys like Harper, Betts and Soto but I cant see him sustaining a place as a top 3 guy, which he briefly was this Spring.

There's no perfect way, but first 4 seasons is an even worse way to look at it, since it's a huge disadvantage to guys like Soto, A-rod, Griffey, etc, who got started in the big in their teens.

Baseball wise it's been a good season, but hobby wise, let's face it, this has been a disappointment.

.291 average, 23 Home Runs, 90 RBIs just doesnt get you into that transcendent tier we all want to see.

Hobby wise has more to do with card demand than stats. There are still several of his cards I want that are going up rather than down. But frankly, I’d like him to be less hobby relevant so I could get those cards.
