I see they’ll be available at SDCC. Will they be at The National? I guess this was the big acquisition by Cryptozoic that was mentioned in the A Christmas Story thread. Darn, was hoping for Hone Alone or Christmas Vacation.

Only 1 in 5 chance at an auto in the Preview Box is rough. I'll probably still pick one up at the Con though.

Definitely will be picking up preview boxes at SDCC. Also regular boxes when they drop as well. I really want to get one considering if its like CZX usually does and is guaranteed an auto or a sketch per box for the regulars.

I was also hoping for another Christmas franchise release and either of those two would be it!

But I am excited for these especially first JP cast autos, and should be some nice sketches in this set.

Still waiting for Conan and What We Do in the Shadows...guess I'll cross the rest of my fingers and hope this product isn't vaporware, too.

Oh, I got questions ...

Yes, Wayne Knight, is a great choice of signer.
Will he be in the main product as well?
I doubt he's preview exclusive, so will the main product have an alternate image?

There's no hint of the release date for the main product.
What is a reasonable expected release date?
Within a year?

The main product says autographs & sketch cards.
Past CZX products delivered one of each per box.
For example, Middle Earth provided:
Autographs – 1
Sketch Cards – 1
Film Cel Cards – 1
STR PWR – 1

Is it too early to speculate on the signer checklist?
Is this just the first movie (not the Chris Pratt movies)?

100% too early. I like Wayne Knight as much as the next fan (mainly for Seinfeld, but whatever), but if he is the biggest name... Hmm.

I don't recall the exact verbiage, but I read it as the first three films.

As far as prospective signers--
Jeff Goldblum signed for some Marvel
Laura Dern was in Pop Century at some point, I think, and has done some SW
Sam Jackson - Pop Century, SW
Sam Neill was, I think, in Pop Century?
BD Wong did some Gotham cards, maybe more

Yes, the first three films. I do think they definitely could get some of the people from the Lost World Jurassic Park and JP3 as 'lesser known' signers.

I can see William H Macy , Tea Leoni, maybe Vanessa Lee Chester doing autos for the set.
I think the main JP stars will likely be the big 'chase' autos and thus more limited, and the more 'common' autos being the TLW or JP3.
If its like past CZX sets, yeah, I can see it being an auto and a sketch.

Vince Vaughn would also be a very nice one IMO. Really looking forward to this set if it has a bunch of the main casts signers. It has to have Goldblum, Neill and Dern to really make it work IMO.

Been very impressed with past CZX sets Middle Earth & DC Heroes/Villians, they were able to get a very impressive amount of stars to sign on card. If they were able to pull off some of those signers, then this should be a win. Some dulas and triples could be really fun too.

Not going to hold my breath for this release. What We Do in the Shadows. In Seasons 1 and 2 was supposed to be released March of 2024. We are now at September 2025 (as of now). So I would say 2027 release.

Cryptozoic replied to a fb comment saying that for the preview set there would be 'presale to pick up at SDCC', with details coming today. I have a feeling that limited to 500 of the preview set, that people might gobble up the entire presale.

Obvious math ... selling 500 boxes for $100 = $50,000

100 signatures of Wayne Knight (assuming they paid $60 each) = $6000

Yes printing & packaging costs money, but assuming it's less than $4000,
And yes there are Licensing costs and SDCC set-up costs,
but Cryptozoic is going to walk away with a tidy profit.
And this is just the "preview."

I would imagine the licensing costs are quite high for this franchise

^ True, but possibly spread over multiple products:

SDCC Preview
CZX first 3 movies
CZX Chris Pratt movies

According to https://shop.fanboyexpo.com/product/...ing-pre-order/
He was charging $60 in July 2023

That's a ceiling, signing at a con is way more hassle than doing cards.

^ understood, but as someone who previously worked in signature acquisition for a trading card company, times are changing ...

More and more celebrities have moved to a "minimum price" for their autographs (probably at the instruction of their manager).

Fifteen years ago, we could get B-list actors for $5-10 each because "signing cards are easy and not a hassle." Then they saw them sell for $50-70 on the aftermarket and wanted a piece of that pie.

But you make my point all-the-more ... if Cryptozoic got lucky and snagged 100 autos at $15 each, that makes a $50,000 product (retail) an even better deal.

Cool idea to do Jurassic Park set.

My one issue with Cryptozoic Middle Earth was glossy finish on autos with black ink pen. A lot of autos are streaky. Hopefully they change pens or paper.
