How about a Drake Baldwin thread? I still think slightly under the radar, maybe because a rookie Catcher, his AB's have been limited to 89, but "catching" up. He's not even showing up on the season stat leaders yet, but when he qualifies would come in #3 in the MLB right now, even ahead of Jacob Wilson.

ESPN ROY betting odds have kind of caught on, #2 in NL right now.

Nice cards! Drake's the man. Watching the games it was obvious he could be a guy even early on when he was batting under .060. Dude was crushing the ball and just had nothing to show for it. Impressive what he's been able to do so far especially since he's not out there every game.

Drake didn't get a regular card yet in Topps, most likely Update, but he did get an Auto in Chrome #RA-DBA.

I’ve posted thus in the Acuna thread but obviously people didn’t respond, how can Acuna be a voting option for the all star game but Baldwin isn’t, talk about MLB bias towards their fan boy Acuna.

And it's certainly understandable why an established veteran is on the fan vote ballot that was released weeks ago, while a rookie who played in around half his team's games the first month of the season (and was hitting .250 at the time) didn't find his way on to the ballot at that point. That isn't a slight on his performance this year, it's just how it is.

Yeah, anyone who plays fantasy baseball knows how frustrating Baldwin’s inconsistent playing has been. He’s good, but he’s just not playing enough. That could change soon.

If games played is irrelevant then yes I understand but there are players eligible for voting with far worse stats so your explanation unfortunately doesn’t hold up.

I don't think you understand my point at all. Games played IS irrelevant to all-star fan voting. They just pick stars to put on the ballot. And I never once said those with the best stats are chosen. In fact, the opposite. I was suggesting stats don't really matter much either. Stats/games played matter when the final rosters are chosen. For the fan ballot, it's all about stardom. That's why injured veterans are on the ballot and up and coming rookies often aren't.

Hey y'all, does anyone happen to have a 2025 Bowman Scouts' Top 100 #65 Drake Baldwin Orange Refractor /25? It's literally the last one I need!

Edit: Rob355, I am also a fan of the 22 Draft for Baldwin. But boy has it got pricey.
I can't for the life of me figure out two things: 1) Why didn't his 22 1/150 True Blue get an inscription, and 2) Why was he left out of Series 2, when two of the three on the SP were already sent back to Minors after their debut (with Shaw coming back up)...

yes, I got in at the start of the 22 explosion and not buying at current prices, wow I wish I would have started even just last year.

not sure on the series 2, but he'll certainly be in Update. Also nice to see at least an auto in Chrome.

Yeah I waited too long and got in fairly recently on some 22 Bowmans.

Oh well. I need one more for a 25 Bowman Rainbow!!!!

Took my boys to their first card show yesterday, a small local card show, with hopes of finding the missing Orange I need. I think only one vendor there even knew who I was talking about when I asked if they had any of his cards. How is this kid seem to be staying so far under the radar, am I missing something?

Simple he's a catcher. Who was the last catcher who was consistently a legit MVP Contender to hit 40+ bombs ? He's not even the best catcher on his own team right now.

At the Dallas Card Show a couple weeks ago I didn't see any Baldwins out of 700 tables, but it wasn't the main thing I was looking for. Plenty of James Woods and Jacob Wilsons in the displays.

Funny enough happened to be walking around and overheard another guy asking dealer if they had any Baldwins, dealer responded "who?". I should have talked to the guy, out of 20k people at the show there were probably only a handful of us looking for Baldwin.
