He seems to be alternating between very good and superhuman depending which season it is. Point being, nobody should ever overreact in baseball. It could take years for certain players to peak and even then you can still get a down season here or there.
Yep, that's what I saw too. Everytime someone mentioned Cags struggling they would point how "Kurtz did too, but look at him now!". As if players are obviously fungible.

Luck hasn't really been on his side, but he definitely needs to refine his plate approach. I think it'd be fine to drop him down at this point to work on a few things. The Royals aren't going to do much this season regardless.

He's always been a pull power hitter (very high exit velocities when he pulls it), but he could improve his barrel control across the zone and drive some balls to opposite field more. At the very least, he needs to stay on breaking balls more and drive them the other way. That starts with better pitch recognition, which he could also work on.

His spray chart looks putrid at the moment:

One of my favorite left-handed batters currently is Freddie Freeman, and he's just so good at utilizing the entire field to do damage. Very impressive considering the advanced major league pitching that exists today.

I will say one thing - Cags looks comfortable in RF, which was a big question earlier this season.

This was an amazing grab, which was of course overshadowed by another Royals loss:

I'm also hoping for a hitting coach change from the Royals soon. There's no way they can continue on with a failed minor league pitcher in that role given the results so far, especially when he spends his free time messaging internet trolls

Looked great again tonight, hit some lasers and a just miss of a 3rd HR. Just glad he wasn’t grounding out.

He’s on a 1/35 streak, but to hear the game announcers talk about it, apparently it’s the most remarkable 1/35 ever and a real thing of beauty.

It is crazy. I've watched every at bat and most of the time he is making great contact and hitting the ball right at fielders or they are making amazing plays against him. He hasn't shown any signs of frustration or an signs of being overmatched...until last night. Last night was the first time I saw him actually getting fooled on pitches and taking bad swings.

His BABIP is now .169. That's third worst in the majors this year. That's just not likely to continue for an entire season. Last year, that would be over 50 points worse than the lowest qualified batter.

At this point, he needs to keep doing what he's doing...see ball, hit ball...and good things will happen. Hopefully, he can maintain his confidence and know he'll eventually hit his way out of this nonsense.

Yeah, I’ve watched a lot of KC games because of Bobby and agree with what you’re saying. I guess I found it humorous the way some people have jumped into talk about how they’ve all been “good looking outs”. I’ve never seen so much praise heaped on a prospect with a .144 AVG.

He does look competent at the plate though. I’m rooting for the guy. Bobby needs then help.

His statcast page doesn't look nearly as bleak as his actual stats. I think statcast says he should have something close to an .800 OPS based off batted ball data. You'd think that would mean better things to come, but then again, 1-35 is 1-35. Ooooof

A full -1.0 WAR in under 100 at bats.

I'm impressed

True. The results are the results. Gotta be good and you gotta be lucky too.

Why's the MLB video header say First Homer? First at Kauffman?
