I've been picking up some comic books and cards that feature both Gambit and Rogue.

The previous one isn't a cover, but a panel from this issue:

Also picked up this paperback novel:

Trivia: sketch card artist Ken Steacy was the colorist on Spawn issue1.

QUESTION: I received a batch from COMC.
I did not request top-loaders, but they sent 11 of them anyways (out of 42 total cards).
When do they decide to include top-loaders?

Probably toploaded all since sketch cards and a small batch. Normally a smaller order would be two toploaded cards with rest in sleeves in between them in a team bag.

In my experience comc toploads pricier cards, even when you don’t request it. Like if I have a $250 card in my shipment with a bunch of bulk lower valued cards…the $250 card is probably toploaded. This is one reason I don’t even bother adding toploaders and paying that surcharge.

Did China just invent a dual sketch card puzzle graded slab?

Ugh. I was excited to bid on this, but the price is now getting out-of-hand.
With premium, that's over $5.00 a sketch already.
And less than 25% of the cards are "shown."

This Heritage Auction surprised me.
$3500 for 303 Mars Attacks sketch cards,
when only 72 of them are scanned & shown?
Do random Heritage auctions normally get this kind of attention?

With so few scanned, it looks like something you would see on Facebook Marketplace, not from a legit auction house. Pretty bad, to be honest.

All it takes is a couple Mars Attacks enthusiasts, and this is understandable.

Or perhaps a reseller. That’s like $10 a sketch…even sight unseen, doesn’t sound terrible? I don’t know what sketches in these kinds of brands go for as much, but it’s hard to find a marvel sketch for $10…even the worst ones can still draw $20-30.

Also that top bid was $2800 and I question if some bidders always are thinking about the (rather substantial) buyer premium heritage charges when bidding.

Another thing though….Heritage’s extended bidding process for these non sports listings can be ridiculous. It’s super seller friendly and will result in basically the item selling for maximum amount (contrast to eBay where it’s a hard-ending time for auctions and very buyer friendly).
The way it works is this: say auction ends at 11 EST. Then it goes to extended bidding. Every time a person puts a new bid in, the time is extended 30 minutes- way too much time imo. It can be 12:15, you are high bidder with 1 more minute left, someone else comes in and places a bid, starts all over, 30 more min. This encourages bidding wars and higher prices. I always wondered what happened if that just keeps going….like if it’s 4am, does it just keep going and going? Although that would be super unusual.

True…I almost wonder places do this at times for large lots to add to the allure. Kinda like a gamble…you see a sampling…fun to see what you end up with, might even result in higher prices than if all shown. You see eBay listings like this..maybe a few random scattered pages shown in a binder…people are drawn in for the allure what all can be in there. Personally I think it’s better to just have full disclosure, especially for a sketch lot.

Yeah, I would not be at all surprised if we see several Mars Attacks! sketches on eBay all of the sudden, after however long it takes for the winner to receive this from Heritage and then pick out the nicer ones.

I just think it's the auction house not knowing what the sketchcard market is and just not investing the time to properly market them. Or, and I say this half-kidding, cards not graded get less attention by the house.

(If you have ever watched the overly-silly Goldin "show" on NetFlix, you'll see that everything is grade, Grade, GRADE!)

Seems like breaking it down into smaller lots and selling on eBay would have been more appropriate.

COMC has an event where you can submit PSA slabs for free.

I just sent 14 cheap slabs. USPS just charged me $17 shipping.

That means I need to add more than a dollar to every sales price just to cover shipping. Ugh.

My goal is to raise $1M so I can buy this card.

Haha! I always wonder if people(newer etc.) know or care that it cost money to do that...

You'd think they'd see the estimated enhanced security fee on their dashboard. That card is costing that person $10 per day to have it up. Today is the 2nd day it's been listed... If they manage to leave it up all month without noticing that enhanced security fee...it'll cost them $300

Sweet sketch, but not even close to the nicest one I've seen from MA DC
