I don't remember anybody musing that they wished he was a TWP when he was hunting 50/50 - in fact it was the opposite. You're also assuming Shohei is commanding these prices strictly due to statistics. That's missing the mark.

I can't really comment on the high end market. But I follow the low and mid end RC card market pretty closely. As I said before I think most of these cards have kind of hit a new floor (assuming Ohtani is healthy and playing). And I think any extra accomplishment going forward (including being a successful two way player) are just going to push this market higher and higher.

With that being said if something were to drastically change ie. career ending injury or recession to the economy I think his cards are pretty safe right now.

I agree to disagree! In fact I just bought some raw Mike Trout US175 RC off ebay...and were not sent for authentication because there were multiple. When in hand I will take photos for you to help me authenticate TBP!!!

Does anyone else on here go to the PSA website to look for low pop Ohtani RC cards that could be under valued? For some 2018 SP and SSP RC a print run is hard or not able to be calculated.

For instance a 2018 #700 purple RC has a total pop of 9 cards submitted. What type of threshold of total population do you think would be worth pursuing as a long term strategy to find value?

2018 was a crazy time for the hobby.

BGS was still a thing then, so remember that when looking at Sho's PSA pop numbers

I bought a S2 Ohtani Purple a couple months ago, specifically because I wanted a truly rare parallel from a premium brand, for under $5k. And I like the TRU/Meijer Purple's a lot.

It's a bit of a niche card though, I think for most collectors you would have to explain just how rare the card is, and go into how they were distributed. S2 were Meijer exclusives, found only in blister packs, which contained 2 packs of S2 and a single loose purple parallel card. Seeing the blister packs opened on YT, I don't know how any purples got gem mint grades.
