Default NHL Off-season/trades/signings

Rumours that Trent Frederic is going to get an 8 year extension. When will teams learn that depth and high AAV to bottom 6 guys just kills you at some point. Bowman stinks so no surprises there tbh

Sens extend Zetterlund. 3 years, 12.8M. More than he's worth right now but I think the feeling is with a full training camp with the team and an elevated role playing possible with Tkachuk/Stutzle, he'll do well and be a possible 'bargain'

Duchene stays in Dallas for 4 more years. 18M. AAV of 4.5

Looks like Toews is signing in Winnipeg. Cant be announced until July 1 but Pierre Lebrun says it's a done deal

No surprises there. Gets to play a year or two for his hometown team. If he's got anything left in the tank that's a huge get for Winnipeg. Still a very good team there that with the right tinkering could contend.

I can see Toews doing well as a third line center on the Jets [they're one of the teams I follow fairly close]. Whether he can jump right in the top 6, or is needed that high in the lineup remains to be seen. The Jets have solid depth and this just adds to it. They're a bit snake bitten and mistake prone, his leadership could be an X factor as well.

Trent's a better player than on paper, and despite his fairly quiet post season. He's got a smidge more goal scoring in him as well. Still young and already a proven identity player. If they pay him less than 4 million a year that isn't... bad. He's also able to kill penalties and played some top 6 minutes with the Bruins when needed, so there's depth to his game.

I think Anaheim should take the guaranteed SCF loss at this point.

Happy to see him with a chance to go out on his terms. The contract structure appears to reflect a less than iron clad trust he will play too much.

Also happy to see Captain Serious back in the league.

Zegras (or Zebras according to autocorrect) off to Philly to rack up some points with Michkov and Drysdale. Good change of scenery bounce back opportunity.

Zegras stinks. Imagine a player like that trying to play for Rick Tocchet lol.

He's young and maybe can change it around but does anyone look at the style of play in the playoffs and think "yea Zegras is what we need come playoff time"

He will rack up empty calorie points, but agree never move the needle if he stumbles into the playoffs.

Kane to the Canucks for a 4th. No salary retained. Hell of a move by Bowman tbh.

Now can he move Arvidsson? Real shame they didnt just match the Broberg/Holloway deals at the time lol

Buffalo, Toronto, Florida, Islanders, could see some major roster turnover for the next week.

I collect Morgan Geekie cards, and I'm hoping the Bruins re-sign him.

Buffalo ownership is looking to shed money, they just gave up their lacrosse team in Rochester.

Wouldn't be surprised if they started cutting $$$ with the Sabres next...

I wouldn't be surprised to see ownership put the team on the market, along with Carolina

And Utah trading Doan is a bad look

Their main focus from day one has been the Bills and that's fine.

But you can't just let the organization sit and be stagnant for this long.

At this point, I'm honestly not even sure how much better the team would be had they drafted McDavid instead of Eichel.
I'd go as far as to say McDavid would've left after his rookie deal and gone to a larger market team (Toronto, NY, etc.)

Ownership and leadership just seem to be that incompetent when it comes to hockey.

I'd be OK with them selling the team, as long as the pipeline from Rochester to Buffalo stays in place.

Red Wings have been stuck in the same place for a decade, Penguins fans probably starting to see the end of the Malkin era, Bruins already were gutted, Oilers fans have to be feeling squeamish watching that McDavid news conference, leafs fans can see an era passing in front of them.

I'd feel great right now if I were a Vegas/Dallas/Ducks/Sharks/Islanders/Blackhawks/Ottawa/Canadiens fan/collector/flipper.

Only one I’ve seen is Mason Lohrei signing extension with Bruins 6.4 mill for two years.

The Draft should be fun to watch tonight, no generational talents but sounds like after the 1st pick, anything and anyone could happen...

I'd much rather watch a draft like this than one where everybody already knows the top 10 picks and their order...
