Default Pirates Reliever tries to fight fan!

https://x.com/ThePoniExpress/status/1935864694608130164

Apparently a reliever on Pittsburgh swung on a fan last night.

Tommy Pham also looked like he was ready to kill a fan(s) behind home plate in the same game: https://x.com/El_Troll_SZN/status/1935886842110656932

Hasn't Tommy Pham always been a hot head?

What did the fan say? Sometime a swing is justified, especially when its someone who feels like they can say anything to a ball player and get away with it.

I was at a local, SAL game years ago, when some chucklehead in my seating area started making nonsensical, jibber-jabber sounds, interpretable as a direct insult toward an Asian player on the opposing team. Third base coach asked for time....talked with the home plate umpire, and corroborated the issue with fans in the stands (myself & my wife, included). Supposedly, the...."fan", (who was also said to be a season ticket holder) was trespassed from from the property for a full, calendar year.

GOOD! Should've been perma-banned, IMO.

While I agree that some people are a$$holes and need to be knocked down a notch, escalating words to violence is REALLY risky. Ironically, as much as a loose cannon as Pham appears to be, his reaction is better than the reliever’s

If you're heckling a player to the point where they start responding to you and warning you to stop but you continue doing it you should be thrown out of the game. This isn't your personal zoo where you get to say whatever you want to players without fear of reprisal because you know they can't or aren't allowed to reach you. Especially when it looks like the "fan" was heckling a reliever on his own team, wtf?

I agree.

Maybe it's social media dripping into real life, but I'm seeing more and more people say outrageously offensive things with no repercussions. Some people need a compassionate knuckle to the face to remember it's better to keep those thoughts to yourself.

I had a friend in high school who was always popping off. I wasn't sad when he got his a$$ handed to him one day when he popped off to the wrong dude on the wrong day. He seemed to mellow out after that.

Santana is having a good year and hasn't allowed a run in over two weeks. Why are you talking #@#@#@#@ to him?

The Pittsburgh Pirates. Francisco Cabrera ruined this once great franchise

Thank you Cutch for your years of service to this debacle of an organization

Pham, POS, was pissed at a fan that called Time Out as the second pitch was about to be delivered to Cruz. Tommy being Tommy lost his mind, but at least controlled himself somewhat.

The fan that Santana took a swing at probably had it coming if what he was saying is true.

That game has wrapped up the Pirates season to a tee. Skenes is brilliant as always. Pen lets them down. And of course some sort of altercation or controversy.

I watched the video that was more of a swat than anything else. Swatted at the guy to make it out like he was a tough gut but wasn't really trying to hit him. Kind of like the Pirates hitters approach at the plate.

I agree, but that's almost certainly what that security guard standing RIGHT THERE was already doing. So do your job and let security do theirs. The fact that these dudes make millions of dollars and can't figure out how to ignore chatter from the stands is just astounding.

And I bet I don't even need to lookup to know what the fan said to santana
