I agree with the poster above. I would not slab as authentic unless it is just for PC purpose. If it were in RPA, I might think differently (as you could just grade the autograph). Frankly, I’m not convinced that you would get much (if any) more money for a PSA 8 than a raw sale, but it would definitely be easier to move.

For me the gold..the gold foil looks much better than the black border. In think long term, it’s the /10 gold and /99 that’s the chase

Base Gold is king....

An Optic Green /5 did $24k recently. It even outsold Prizm Gold Auto that recently sold on Alt.

That was a good sale! I sold mine back in 2020 for 72k and then it went all the way down to 30k at one point. Nice to see it going past COVID highs.

When it comes to iconic "base" related rookie cards, there's prizm and there's Optic. The Rated Rookie symbol is iconic, and there's only 10 out there for the golds. It's a great card.

When it comes to iconic "base" related rookie cards, there's prizm and there's Optic. The Rated Rookie symbol is iconic, and there's only 10 out there for the golds. It's a great card.

There's one more than its the Select XRC.

Funny enough, I rank that card #1 of the 3 when it comes to the Silver version, and #2 when it comes to the parallels.

An interesting question right now: What would sell for more in similar grade: Base Gold Optic or Auto Gold Optic?

Given that it is an on-card auto for optic, I think there would be a premium for that one (assuming similar grades on card ). If it had a really streaky auto (which is an issue with optic), it might be a push …

As time passes, the Donruss optic gets closer in status to Prizm (in my opinion). Plus, Optic was so distinctive that year with the no helmet imagery.

ultimately, I think the Mahomes optic will go down as his most iconic card. Reminds me of the 1989 Griffey upper deck portrait shot….

Mahomes prizm is a massively overrated card...I get prizm is king but optic is far superior imo as well

I don't think the numbered prizm parallels have the dimple the base silver has but they're well out of my price range anyway

The biggest difference is that Optic Autos are parallels, Prizm autos are true inserts:

-Different Picture
-Different (slightly) card design, and most importantly...
-Different Numbering


That's all on top of it being a sticker card. No different than NT rookie autos that aren't the base card. They're all insert
