That’s definitely the smart way to do it, BUT where’s the fun in that

The best thing about series 2 in the past was that it was way less printed. Now Fanatics has “solved” that problem.

I just opened 2 hobby boxes and I’m done with Series 2. The first box was the worse box I’ve ever opened. Aside from horrible collation and multiple duplicate packs my “hits” were 2 rainbow foil cards, 1 purple, and a player work memorabilia patch. The silver pack was also unremarkable.

The 2nd box wasn’t much better.

I have a jumbo case that i just started to open. Box 1 had a Ben Rice Baseball Stars auto. Was going to buy a hobby case as well but all this negativity has me rethinking that lol

To say the least. I went through 3 hobby boxes out of my case last night and got 1 gold border and a sticker auto of someone not even on a team right now. The worst part, the first 4-5 packs out of every one of those boxes were the same exact players in the same order. It was mind blowing.

Not to mention, I may have got 3 RC's out of those 3 boxes and none that are even worth mentioning. Just complete #@#@#@#@ thrown in there. I am disgusted as this is by far the worst product I have opened from Topps.

Maybe the rest of the boxes will be better but I am doubting it based on what I have been hearing from anyone I know that bought cases.

Opening a Jumbo with my son Friday night…I think we will go for a black parallel Wood!!!

Checked it out on Fanatics, and the cards look nice.

From the sound of it the smart play is on singles from eBay which is most of the time the safer play. I’m not opening the Jumbo to get rich.

Made orders through the Fanatics website yesterday. They are now canceling multiple jumbo box orders saying they couldn't verify details. I've had my account for years and always used the same card and address. Typical Fanatics, they will turn around and offer it higher through various distribution channels.

I had 1 box that was missing an auto.
Question, what do people do when one of those jumbo boxes are missing an auto (that's clearly promised on the outside of the box itself)?

A small sampling, I know, but from the retail side of things; I picked up 22 Fat Packs @ WallyWorld, last night. I primarily rip retail packs,..."for fun" (eg; I'm cognizant of the fact that retail is NOT the format to rip, if you genuinely hope to hit a monster card)...and to hand collate the base Flagship/Heritage sets, each year . However, hitting the occasional...."worth more than the $7 I spent for the pack, card", is an inspirational, plus, too! Quite literally, not a single, noteworthy card to mention, outta' 22 Fatties!

ZERO...numbered
ZERO...notable inserts/parallels
ZERO....mem
ZERO...auto
ZERO...SP/SSP
etc.

I mean...zip, zilch, nadda! $150+, virtually flushed down the bowl!?

In years past, 20+ Fat Packs would almost certainly yield a gold #/2022, etc., and/or....a napkin patch, etc. As others have alluded to, here (and in numerous other threads/boards) Craptastics will NOT,...nor do I believe do they have any genuine intentions to...."better" their product(s)/the hobby, so long as we wilfully & knowingly....."donate" to their cause.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Keep on foolin' me, well then I'm just a complete, moron! Evidently, I (many of us!) am clearly...the latter!

[NOTE: Admittance, is the first step!]

This is the wisest path....

At this point, ripping pretty much any Fanatics release is asking for it.....

But people keep on doing it.....it's almost like people enjoy getting ripped off....

I love all the people complaining on social media about their bad "hits" in their boxes.

These people have no idea what flagship is actually supposed to be.

I understand the complaints about the lack of hits, larger print runs, etc. I also stopped opening wax but WHATIF this is the lowest print runs you will ever see again? Fanatics will 10-20-30-100X the hobby until every release is multi-billion base cards or more. Houses full of cardboard piles. Cardboard smelling candles for those that cannot afford more cardboard. This could be the golden age...buy buy buy!

The only goal in buying Flagship is to get the RCs. Anything else is gravy.

With that said, I bought 4 blasters at WM and got one gold and one team border.

Having grown up in the ‘80s, I can’t remember the last time opening ‘wax’ actually smelled like cardboard

If you can’t open flagship or heritage anymore, what’s left to open?

People on here: Topps is watering down the product by making too many parallels!

Also people on here: I didn’t get enough parallels in the one hobby box I bought!

My hobby box was terrible, then I open a blaster and pull a Golden Mirror. Go figure.

true, they're going to bastardize it eventually, like they did to Heritage.

Oof, sounds like I got pretty luck with my hobby box. Although I haven't checked the base to see what collation was like yet. I don't REMEMBER seeing any duplicates though.

The poor collation is really the biggest problem to me. This is one of the few products I open anymore at post covid prices. Everything else is just not worth it as a set builder. And if they screw up collation so badly, even flagship becomes not worth it. Luckily I have about 9 5000ct boxes of incomplete sets I need to finish from previous years, so I can still enjoy trading with people for that if all else fails .
