Default Many 99 Baseball PMGs popping up for sale in May/June 2025?

I have noticed a large number of 1999 PMGs being sold on ebay by a small handful of sellers, including via PSA's ebay account.

Many of these are low end players, but I have seen a few higher end players like McGwire, Biggio, Pedro, Maddux, etc pop up. I've noticed some auction groupings are high grades (PSA 8s and 9s), while some batches are 6s and below. There's one notable seller who is listing his 98 and 99 PMG as BINs at high prices, likely with little intention to sell like the others. That's more of an interesting side note, but it contributes to the increased visibility of 99 PMGs.

A few people have been trying to collect the whole set, so what explains this sudden influx?

-old time collector selling due to:

1. Cashing out
- retiring from hobby
- wants cash
-needs cash
-wants to change hobby direction

-factory back door stash coming out

-someone feels we’re at the hobby pinnacle
1. Selling at peak

-fakes/counterfeits from china infiltrating the market

Take your choice!

If the Larkin pops up, I would be forever grateful if someone gives me a heads up in case I missed it.

The Delgado popped up already and I was outbid on it. Was ok though, because a 1998 Skybox Thunder Super Rave showed up after that and I couldn't have afforded both! I feel like a 99 PMG shows up once a year, but not sure the last time I saw the 1998 Super Rave.

But I'm guessing someone had just been sitting on a lot of these and wanted to cash out. I think there were actually a lot of the Super Raves that showed up around the same time as well.

Wow, weren't kidding.

Someone must had been sitting on some and deciding to cash out, not a bad play by the looks of it.

I heard it, but I don’t know that I believe it. Given the large numbers of 80s/90s kids that returned to the hobby over the last 5 years and the rarity of these cards I’m not sure I see a catalyst for a fall outside of a general fall in the market as a whole.

Would be curious to see this defined what you mean in terms of %s / numbers and specific sets, etc?

For cards that hit the market once every several years, it doesn't take much demand to sustain the market. We aren't talking about artificial rarity because of the number on a slab. These cards are truly scarce.

Anything is possible, but I highly doubt it. Here’s my simple reason why: Michael Jordan. As long as his rare 90’s inserts are leading the way, it’ll pace the market for all other 90’s inserts.

Late 90s is pretty awesome stuff. I have actually picked up a few nice cards from the 90s recently and they sell fast in the FB groups I'm in
