Default e-Pack : Skybox The Matrix

Coming June the 10th!

PMG's look pretty easy to get... as long as you have deep pockets.

Could bring back some trading to ePack.

I’m not sure I have it in me to actively participate in another weekly. Maybe load up on week one and try to trade for the rest, but that seems to be a common strategy everyone does with weeklies. Then it ends up being the other weeks that people actively need to trade for in the end achievement rush.

I like the base card design and Digital Rain parallel. The inserts are pretty meh -- the Glitch Achievements look like lenticulars.

This format seems terrible. Would so much rather a traditional release

Weeklies can be fun if they are popular traders. If you are interested in the upcoming DC stuff might be worth a flyer to pick up some of these to trade for DC later on. I would think one or more DC sets hit ePack sometime within the 10 week Matrix run. Also if you feel Halo trading has stalled this might be a way to work in some Halo trades as well.

We will see what it is priced at. 2,000 packs a week is not a lot. So at $15 a pack that would be $30k gross each week for $300k total.

^ my thoughts exactly actually, there's no way on earth I'm putting the required effort (or money) into this to get the PMG, so I'll get a few packs for trade bait, for use later.

You actually desire those purple ("magenta"?) PMGs? I remember when those were first introduced by Upper Deck in Avengers Infinity War in 2018. They were the cheaper, more common version of PMGs.

The Matrix franchise needs a proper release -- not a weekly one. The Green PMG with "raining code" would be a huge hit for the big four characters -- Neo, Trinity, Morpheus and Smith.

I was going to say there is a huge drop off in character popularity after the “big 4” so I was thinking a 10 card character set would have some stinker weeks. However, when I reread the news article it looks like the character set is limited to just the big 4, so likely Neo and Trinity get 3 cards each and two for the other two.

“Characters cards introduce the cast by spotlighting the 4 main characters from the movie printed on Clay Coat with silver deco foil. ”

Passerino. I put about 1200 bucks into the Goonies Weekly when that was going on. Ended up with 3 Doubloons and 2 sketches but it was a lot of work. It wasn't fun the weeks were going on and there were less and less people to trade with to complete achievements. Can't see myself putting in the time since I care for Matrix much less than the Goonies.

Where do you think those PMGs will settle price wise? I know those Magenta Spider-man movie ones don't do so great in the world of PMGs

I think most ePack users would have preferred a sketch achievement chase. The set should still sell out each week though.

You think so? If I remember right Goonies only sold out the first week? Maybe first two? You think Matrix has more pull in the hobby?

You are right. There is no guarantee Matrix sells out each week. I guess it comes down to pack price. Also, ePack traffic and trading is a lot lower now than it was when Goonies hit. Marvel leaving really took a toll on the website. So that isn’t something I factored in.

So, we will see. I am cautiously optimistic the set can sell out each week.

I kind of think we get DC Annual in a week or two. That’s a big enough gap from Halo. Batman Metal probably won’t get to ePack for quite awhile.

They could have DC Unbound hitting soonish too, but that’s the type of thing you’d think art would have started leaking if its release was around the corner.

Hopefully James Bond appears this year as well. Seem to remember it being quite good for a while on previous releases.

Good point on the Marvel leaving I didn't even think of that. I love The Matrix so it sucks this is just the run of the mill weekly set.

They should have made the PMGs rare pack hits and the Achievements be Auto/Dual Autos and sketches. Probably just didn't want to pay out to do so.

The problem with movie sketch cards is that you may have to get actor likenesses approved, and you can't deviate from the source material.

Right. Overall, I think they did a pretty good job with the sketch cards in last year’s Goonies weekly set.

There are what, 100 hockey collectors for every 1 nonsports collector on Epack? If I was Upper Deck, the movie license I'd be chasing is Slapshot.

Also, they really missed their chance when they had the Disney license to do a Mighty Ducks set.

I am a huge matrix fan and when I saw the title was excited. Then read it and meh. I might pick a few cards up on comc but none of the cards really look very good. I hope this leads to a proper release tho, would love to pick up some autos & sketches for the Matrix, I even enjoyed the Animatrix but not so much the 4th movie, I do note that they say from "all 3 movies" I guess they have just pretended that the 4th doesn't exist

Devil's Advocate. I didn't hate the 4th. I was happy to be back in the Matrix Universe. I'm sure a lot of people had a problem with making Trinity the focus but I bet if Laurence Fishburne was back people wouldn't have hated on it so much. With that being said I thought the dude that played Morpheus did an ok job.
