I love Barry Sanders but even his greatness will be forgotten and so will Mahomes one day. Brady will not because what he did will be legendary just like Jordan. I wish I could see the value of his cards in the year 2100.

I doubt Mahomes will be forgotten about any time soon. Since he’s a QB compared to a RB. People of course still know Bradshaw/Montana and that was from a long time ago.

Wait, forgotten when? If people of course still know Sanders lol. As well as Jim Brown and Walter Payton, and plenty of other non qb names from a long time ago

Mahomes is the most watched athlete of all time.

The 4 most watched TV broadcasts in history are the Moon landing and 3 Mahomes Super Bowls. In those Super Bowls he won 2 MVPs and the got destroyed trying for a 3 peat. This year's Thanksgiving day game will be the most watched regular season broadcast in history.

People might love him, people might hate him, but he's going down as one of the most memorable athletes in history, and probably THE most memorable athletes of the 2020s, the same way that Brady was one of the top 2 most memorable of the 2010s

Not this. As long as football exists, Barry Sanders and Mahomes will be remembered.

Since we're talking about which NFL players will be remembered, I just figured this went without saying.

The sport is much more spectated now but personally I think Bo Jackson was a better athlete than Mahomes. Mahomes will be a thing of the past many years down the road but yes, we all remember Montana and even Otto Graham but that doesn’t mean he is the goat or his cards will maintain the value of Tom Brady’s legendary legacy. Mahomes isn’t a game manager like Brady, he is just a better overall athlete which Father Time will catch up to him.

Brady a game manager? Oof

As well as of course a RB is going to be more athletic than a qb most of the time

There’s a serious problem if a teams qb is a better athlete than the RB, since qbs mostly pass and running/juking etc is more on the athletic side

Not to start a whole separate topic but running qbs/designed runs are so dumb, even for “athletic” quarterbacks like notably Allen and Jackson. All the wear and tear on them so far and they haven’t even played in a SB

Compared to guys with at least one ring who almost never run or only do when they have to, never really a designed run. Brees, Rodgers, Big Ben, Brady, both Mannings

Hurts has a ring but he’s just a decent qb, with an awesome defense, of course Hurts is never going to have big qb numbers as a lot of other guys. I hate hypotheticals like this but imagine Herbert, or Burrow, or Allen etc on the Eagles. Hurts doesn’t get the ring if he’s on the Chargers or Bengals lol

Wow, with the proliferation of television and streaming and other ways to watch, people now are seen more often. Fascinating.

Mahomes will not be forgotten, any more than other great athletes have been. He may or may not end up being the greatest when all is said and done, but not forgotten.

Don't forget the increase in population every year.

Don’t forget Swifties.

I’d argue Travis Kelce is the most watched athlete.

The notion that Brady was a "game manager" is far far off the course.

Brady was the opposite of "game manager" considering the 44 career 4th quarter comebacks and the greatest comeback in NFL history

He was definitely a "game manager" his first couple years in the league.

FWIW, Neilsen actually recently - and by recently I mean within the past few years - revised how they calculate viewership. They recently starting including streaming into their numbers.

Yeah.... If you add all those streaming viewers into numbers from the 80s, 90s, and 00s, the total ratings go through the roof

Characterizing Brady's entire career (100k yards, 700+ TDs) as a Game Manager is absolutely wild to me.

And people act as if idk what I’m talking about lol

Anyone know of any better threads? You’d think for Brady it’d be better than the same 6-7 people that are always here after years lol
