Nice to see Chelsea get it over the line despite the poor season. Had a very impressive run in to secure top 4

inb4 "they spent a billion"

yawn. The players dont choose their fees. They were the youngest team in the league with a Manager that was a bit out of his depth to begin.

Generally speaking, EPL players are overvalued compared to continental players, and clubs looking to get best value for their money shop outside the EPL.

Although Newcastle have been linked with just about every available EPL player, I'd that they end up bringing in more non-EPL players than EPL players this summer.

Look at what Nottingham Forest paid for Milenkovic and Muriilo (about 40 million total) compared to what Palace are asking for Guehi (50 million+).

Look at what Newcastle paid for Bruno compared to what Arsenal paid for Delcan Rice.

The good values are players from outside of England.....

well no shi...

you're missing the fact however that English clubs need a quota of domestic players for Europe.

clubs need 8 domestic players, 4 from their own youth pathway.

Cole Palmer. Outstanding.

Great 2nd half for Chelsea yesterday against a good Betis side. Couldnt get near Isco in the first half.

Pretty hard not to love Cold Palmer. He's kept a great attitude during his goal drought and has actually be playing pretty well during that period still. He certainly turned it up a notch and seemed much more aggressive during the second 1/2. He easily could have had 3-4 assists that game.

Chelsea get Delap. Think he's really going to shine like Palmer has. Lots of potential there.

Though at some point they need a bit more experience in the team. Going into the CL with such a young team will be very tough.

This CL Final looks like a bunch of 20 year olds playing old men.

The age difference is apparent.

Aye, a game too far for Inter against the Qatari geopolitical soft power tool called PSG.

It appears the city of Paris celebrated last night with murder, hundreds of hospitalisations including 30+ police officers and firemen, arson, looting, robbery, hundreds of arrests and tens of millions of euros of damage

Was my first time in Munich for quite a few years and had forgotten how nice a city it is. Need to make a return journey in better times.

Hated last night. Now in a taxi from Stansted Airport to East London. It all feels like a really bad dream.

If it brings any joy to you, I witnessed two 'roadmen' fall into the Limehouse Cut this morning. It made the most satisfactory 'splosh'.

We spent a week in Munich last fall....has great museums, great food, and we also made day trips to the German Alps, Salzburg, and Nuremberg via train.

Ange delivering the major trophy and then most likely being out is particularly hilarious for a variety of reasons.

Well, in all honesty, the EPL is so far ahead of everyone else financially that the EPL entrants SHOULD be huge favorites to win both the Europa League and Conference league most years.

The only clubs that might be able to challenge Aston Villa for the Europa League crown next year would be Roma, Porto, and maybe Real Betis.

And Nottingham Forest should be favorites to win the Conference League next year with Fiorentina.

As cool as it is for Newcastle to be back in the Champions League again, there was also a part of me hoping that they'd drop into the Europa League, since they would have been the odds-on favorite to win that trophy (like Aston Villa will be).

Five clubs in Champions League from the EPL and La Liga (Six from the EPL inc. Tottenham)

Teams finishing 7th getting Europa League places.. a reward for finishing almost mid-table

Almost half of the Premier League will be in Europe next season

It's stupid.

That City (and France in general) have completely fallen tbh. Wouldnt move there if you paid me.

For us that's a bug....for UEFA it's a feature, since more teams = more TV money.

I've always maintained that European football would be much better off with two equally strong competitions rather than one dominant competition.

Make the Champions League for league champions and cup winners, and the Europa League for places #2-5.

Next year you'd have Liverpool, PSG, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona in the Champions League.....and Arsenal, Man City, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, Internazionale, and Juventus in the Europa League.....i.e. two balanced competitions that should attract an equal amount of TV revenue.

I get it but the alternative would be to have a smaller field (which I'm not against but I think too many people have gotten used to at least 32 teams).

Why would the field have to be less than 32 teams?

You've got 53 nations in UEFA, and if you add in Cup-Winners you'd probably have a field of 70-90 clubs to start the qualifying rounds, once you account for clubs that do the double.

Because at that point you are punishing teams/players from playing in better leagues.

Is it really fair if Arsenal can't be in the UCL but the champion of Albania is?
