Default Now Representing PSA, Backyard Breaks! Hide Yo Kids!?

Backyard Breaks selected by PSA Headquarters New Jersey to do a Live Break of Panini Select. Actually quite shocking.

So the questions are:
  1. Does PSA know what went down on WhatNot?
  2. Is PSA out of touch?
  3. What leader at PSA is responsible for this decision?
  4. What marketing team for PSA thought this was a good idea?
  5. How does this benefit PSA?

The same questions apply to Panini.

Hopefully its not on "Bring Your Kids To Work Day"

Default PSA Partnering With Backyard Breaks For A Live Break At PSA HQ

Wow just wow PSA lol

From an optics standpoint this is just down right stupidity. Who at PSA thought this was even remotely a good idea ?

The folks at Backyard Breaks are no strangers to scandal. Grant Telford made an inappropriate joke about the sexuality of minors during a livestream. His attempt at humor focused on what acts he hoped he could perform with his daughter if he had one.

This is what happens when you are too big to fail that you are bulletproof. If the other grading companies was even mildly competitive, they wouldn't take the risk

This benefits PSA because good or bad it's going to get press coverage and people talking about it. And you know a lot of people are going to tune in just to see if something controversial gets said. It's just like people slowing down to look at a bad crash on the interstate.

Also their main focus right now is TCG and Pokemon and while Backyard does dabble in that they are more widely known as a sports card breaker so that group could care less as long as their PicaCharolax card gets a PSA 10.

Funny you mention TCG. Contrary to what the influencers are trying to tell you, do you know what the core audience of the product is right now. UNDERAGE KIDS. I don't know if Backyard is getting in the TCG game but it feels like a perfect grooming opportunity for them if they are. Hope PSA is happy with that

.
You would think they had a screening process for partnerships like this.

There should always be some ethical standard a company like this should have. As for press, I'm not seeing how hiring a company that is responsible for sexualizing young children is "good press" in any way, shape or form.

Heck, Trevor Bauer can't get a job because of the bad press that comes with him physically abusing a woman even though it "may have" been consensual. We know what Wander Franco did and he'll never sniff the MLB again. There are just lines that good companies should never cross.

The more I think about it, it's like the Dodgers adding Wander Franco to their roster and doing a large marketing campaign with him as your new Franchise player.

The industry as a whole is full of crappy people. They're in roles on the manufacturing side, they're in roles on the grading side, they're at marketplaces and auction houses, they're breaking product.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. It's a cesspool.

I am shocked that morally questionable individuals are given free passes. Shocked.

Which is more (un)believable:

1. PSA didn’t know about the scandal.
2. PSA knew, but did this anyway.

Another question:

6. Will you still use PSA as your tpg of choice if this is what they represent?

You’re going to have to be more specific when you say “the scandal” in reference to BYB. There’s just too many, ya know?

I believe both could be true at the same time and equally believable.

Our society went from cancel culture to a week vacation and everything is ok within a blink of an eye. I don't know what is worse...

of course they will because at the end of the day they bring you the best return on the secondary market and that is what everyone cares about. CGC mehhh, SGC owned by the same company/group as PSA, Beckett nobody cares. There is nobody else relevant enough to take their place. In the end PSA is the monster the collecting community created and they have nobody to blame but themselves.

So if this is just a “pot calling the kettle black” situation, isn’t this just another nothing burger?

Breaker bois will continue to break with backyard bros.

Grader bois will continue to grade with PSA.

Move along. Nothing to see here.

Backyard bros could press the button to annihilate the entire continent of Asia with nukes and people would continue their same hobby practices here.

Yes in the long term that's exactly what it is

There will be chatter and outrage but once it's over and the break has taken place people will quickly move on and forget like they always do. Just look at the latest scandal itself as an example. When it first happened there was outrage then people moved on and there was no talk about it on a large scale until this news broke.

NBA and NFL coming back home will be the hot topic post Baseball season not another stupid PSA decision. Plus you know there will be some hot juicy Grading Special for both sports that will make everyone forget.

The hobby is a cesspool and this will bring more revenue. Everyone saying how gross it is, will continue to still use PSA and support this decision.

We should start a petition and present it to PSA.
