Upper Deck did the whole wolverine claw scratch over the card a while ago.

Isn't it probable that Disney/Marvel determines what imagery is allowed to put on cards? I'm not too surprised that when the license changes hands they just take the portfolio of approved imagery from one business and hand it to the next ... IMHO this is why the Masterpieces sets experienced such godawful delays and were also so highly sought after ... fresh imagery is likely fraught with endless hierarchical approval chains where anything can go wrong.

This is true since it all goes to breakers to pump it up. I will wait for the dump of lots after all the breaks like been doing w other tc and sapphire to make sets. You can get lots for stupid cheap now even w boxes at crazy prices.

By far the best Marvel set to come out in ages. This one will be remembered and sought after IMHO. Simplistic in design but uses GREAT art of the characters!!

Yea that set with Jusko’s iconic art is easily better, and hard disagree with the earlier post. But that’s fine.. it’s an opinion

Marvel cards are in a weird place right now under topps. With the chrome sets it’s become a landscape of sports basically. These sets are lackluster…yea they’re snazzy foil and premium stock, but I believe there’s a phrase for it, “lipstick on a pig”- the comic book cut and paste art does nothing for me. The Wolverine claw thing I guess is a novel gimmick, but take a hard look at the card shown in the OP- does that come across as a particularly aesthetic card? To me it doesn’t at all. Overall due to the cut and paste art these sets come across as very generic.

On other forums this is the usual post for 2025 Marvel Chrome- “I pulled this…anything special, what’s it worth?”. Clearly the set is being used heavily to break, gamble, invest. Which is not a surprise either the sheer amount of sports coming in with the release.

Just recently a post of a 1/1 Killmonger clawed card. The estimates people have into the thousands, one over $5k. This is all a massive red flag for the set and possibly the current state of the marvel card hobby itself. A Killmonger card using rehashed art just made this year with a manufactured scarcity (and gashes across it no less) people are speculating into the many thousands of dollars? Who’s even collecting Killmonger out there? I see something quite wrong with this picture. In 15 years, I can’t imagine how many Chrome sets, 1/1s, you name it will be out there…if anyone is spending over $5k for a card like that in a random chrome release of a common character, well good luck with that.

The one good thing to come out of all this- I save a massive amount of money…let’s me back collect sets I enjoy. So there’s that!
